One-Liner Wednesday – Is That OK?

A co-worker and I share the same birthday, so every year, we take ourselves to lunch on or near that day. This year, we decided to wrap it up a week early, since we were both going to be busy on the actual day. Since it was my turn to buy, we went to Chili’s and we ate in the bar. I asked the waitress if they had Dos Equis. She said yes, so it was going to be a good day. A few minutes later, she came back to the table:

I’m sorry, we only have Dos Equis on tap, will that be OK?

I’m guessing she’s not much of a beer drinker.

Pretty close to one line this week, a near record for me. Of course, I haven’t stopped typing yet.

This post is part of Linda G. Hill’s fun weekly series One-Liner Wednesday. You can follow this link to see the one-liners from the other participants.

The gallery includes a few random photos from over the weekend.

    1. Thanks Sandi. If you’re holding a bag of nuts, they seem to be less afraid. These guys are getting quite bold. We aren’t taking the nuts out to attract them, we’re taking them out because they expect them :)

  1. That’s too funny. For the waitress and Joanne, it really does make a difference. In taste. I had the most delicious chocolate ale at a local bar this summer, so I bought a six pack of bottles at the store. Although it was still good, the taste was not quite the same. The difference is similar to eating frozen veggies or making them fresh from the farmer’s market.

Dan, Maddie and Sally are so cute. The leaf not so much, but that is a great artsy photo.

    1. Thanks – draft is always better, unless it’s Bud Light, in which case…seriously, why is that so popular? I tried and tried to capture the leaf in an interesting way. That was as good as it got. Maddie, Sammy and Sally, not to mention MiMi and MuMu, as if we needed more mouths to feed. I guess winter is really on its way.

    1. Thanks,Judy. Still working on the cabinet-style shed (it’s finally on the wall). I’ve have seen people request Bud Light in a bottle, even though it’s taking up a precious tap at the bar. Ive made my feelings about that brew known elsewhere…

Hopefully, I will have some photos of the DIY projects before this month is over.

  2. What ? No “When I drink Dos Equis it is always on tap…” ! ? ! .? ! As TWMFM or at least TWMFD you are required to say these things. Good thing it was you birthday or we would never let you off the hook. Now if we were having a beer I would explain this very briefly so we could just sit back and enjoy the beer.

    1. Maddie jumps up on the bed and “swims” in those blankets until she settles in for a quick nap. She’s nuts. Speaking of nuts, Sammy and Sally are causing us to order more. I think they’re bringing the modern age into “preparing for the winter.”

  3. I am amazed how fancy saw horses have become. Sally is friendly and I don’t see how she can eat upside down either. I’m pretty ignorant about beer as well. I’m not sure if Dos Equis is better on tap or in a bottle.

  4. Happy Birthday! I haven’t been to Chili’s in a long time. The chicken soft tacos were my go to, and when drinking beer there I’d get Blue Moon I’m pretty sure it was on tap since I was able to get it in two sizes. :)

Sally is entertaining, and cute. Maddie has a neck pillow too? She looks so content snuggled up with her blankies and toys on the sofa.

    1. OK – first thing – that’s my neck pillow. Maddie steals it whenever she gets up on the bed.

Chili’s still offers small and large drafts (12 & 16 oz). This is probably the first time this year I’ve been. I do like their chips and salsa. Thanks for the birthday wishes. It was a good day but we’re celebrating Sunday.

  5. Haha! I’m guessing she doesn’t know beer drinkers! Normally the dreaded phrase would be,”I’m sorry we only have Yuengling in bottles”. Sounds like a good birthday celebration. When IS your birthday? Rememebr I am no longer on ‘tell-all’ Facebook. 😉 Those darned squirrels. So cute. They were all over us this morning and we forgot to bring ANY thing. Even the ducks were coming up to us, fully expecting treats, i felt like the house with the lights out at Halloween. 😱I love the dewy leaf shot.

    1. Thanks Cheryl. Birthday was yesterday, but we’re celebrating on Sunday. I feel so bad when I don’t have something for the critters. That’s why we carry these bags. I had to put the bag down because I was pulling weeds and didn’t want to add dirt to my pockets. Sally almost scored the whole bag.

  6. Happy Belated Birthday, Dan! My second son’s birthday was on the 6th. I was there in the northwest for vacay and bought him his (special vegan) birthday cake. Would never try to make one of those! Had a fun family party. Sammy, Sally and Maddie! Love the critters and the redhead! Christine

  7. I, too, share a birthday with a friend and we always go out to a late lunch together and enjoy a glass of wine. We always order the same lunch and the same type of wine. Then we make a fuss about buying one another’s lunch because “It’s her birthday,” when its time to pay. Some servers laugh with us; some get confused, and a few have tried to explain why, really, we could each pay for our own lunch.
