Those of you who have followed me for a while know that I don’t usually respond to awards or challenges, save for the three regular challenges I participate in. However, every now and then, someone tags me on the right day and it sticks. Still, there is the issue that I don’t do well with rules, so you can never be sure if it’s better to be ignored or answered.
Last week, Marian Allen tagged me in a two-quote challenge, and I agreed to respond. I wasn’t really thinking. The rules are as follows:
The rules of the tag are very simple:
- Thank the Selector
- Post 2 quotes for the dedicated Topic of the Day.
- Select 3 bloggers to take part in ‘3.2.1 Quote Me!’
The topic set for me and my tagees is ‘Success’.
OK, let me see if I can get through this:
Thank you Marian! Thanks for thinking of me, and thanks for following my blog, liking stuff and leaving comments. Most of all, thanks for turning your keyboard over to Tipper on Saturdays, because I really enjoy his updates. Oh, and thanks for the occasional Steffie story.
One down.
Since part of the tagline of this blog is “hopes and dreams,” I think I’ll take my first quote from a man who was helping to manage the hopes and dreams of a nation during very difficult times:
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.“
— Winston Churchill
My second quote might only be loosely related to success, but it’s one of my favorite quotes by anybody, ever:
“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.”
— Andy Warhol
That’s two.
I’m going to pass on the third rule. I’m OK with two out of three. If you would like to play along, consider yourself tagged.
The gallery is just a few reruns of what some critters around here consider success.
I like the second quote about time. I saw another one on Twitter and I thought it was right.
“People don’t waste time. Time wastes people.”
I forget who posted it.

Thanks Peter – time is an interesting concept. We can wrap a lot of thinking around it.

Great quotes and great pictures. I love the thought of saying something so clever and/or profound that my words of wisdom will be quoted long after I’m gone. I guess I should start working on that.
I love that Maddie just sits if she wants to… why not?

Thanks. She is do happy when she’s sitting.

Great image of you and Faith at the top of that Mountain. The view must have been amazing and worth the climb. I seem to recall you posting about this hike. Right?
The quotes are wonderful, and the random images of the squirrels, and Maddie are too cute! Maddie in the snow cracks me up. She’s a character!

Thanks. Yes, I did post about that “easy” hike. It was a beautiful view from the top. We actually went on a small hike today.

Both quotes jumped out at me, Dan. I had a very challenging past week which demands change. I will keep these words in mind. Maddie is a character and a half! LOVED the pictures! My favorite is of you and Faith.

A Maddie post–I love this! That first photo reminded me of that quote: ‘Give the lady what she wants.” Sit? Granted, Maddie.

Yep, when Maddie wants to sit, we usually end up sitting. 🙂

They get to know who feeds them and who will hurt them. When I was still working, I had one squirrel climb up my pants leg to get his peanuts.

Oh my goodness! I hope we don’t get that close to these rascals (but it wouldn’t surprise me).

Nice photo of you and Faith, and Maddie is one smart dog the way she figures out how to get family to do what she wants. :-)

What’s not to love about a post that includes a great photo of you and Faith? 🙂
If we’re talking about quotes about change, I saw a few months ago that said ‘when you change the way you look at things, things change the way they look” … but I have no idea where I read it or who to attribute it to, however I really like it. It reminds me to stay open-minded.

That is a great quote, Joanne. Faith and I were hiking today. I’ll have to see if she can send me the selfie she took.

I miss the snows, Dan. I miss the snows.

Ha ha – there have been days lately where I would have traded upper 90s for snow. So much easier to get warm than cold.

I just read the Winston Churchill quote somewhere day-before-yesterday.
I’d like to hear the story of the dog picture and the Mt Monadnock picture!
