Come, Ye Thankful People – #ThursdayDoors

Come, ye thankful people, come
Raise the song of harvest home
All is safely gathered in
Ere the winter storms begin
God our Maker doth provide
For our wants to be supplied
Come to God’s own temple, come
Raise the song of harvest home

Picture a small group of boys and girls standing on and in front of the step in front of the communion rail. Imagine them singing that song, the Sunday before Thanksgiving and sometimes, on Thanksgiving Day. For several years, those children would include me and the kindergarten and first grade students with whom I attended Sunday School.

Today, in the US, we are celebrating Thanksgiving. A day to take time off, count our blessings and share a meal with family and friends. I am posting this special view for Thursday Doors, the weekly blog fest orchestrated by Norm Frampton. I am going to disable comments here, as I won’t be spending much time on the Internet. I wish all of you in the US a Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope everyone has a wonderful day and a great weekend. If you want to see doors from all over the world, click yourself up to Norm’s place. If you would like to hear an instrumental version of that wonderful song, the link is included below the gallery.

Today’s pictures have all appeared before, but they are the places I learned to be thankful and about He from whom all blessings flow.
