During storms, we are in the takeoff pattern for BDL. There aren’t many planes flying these days, but the ones that are, are loud.
The crows are ready for the big game.
If you’re familiar with Google’s gMail, you may be familiar with the email-like thingies they toss in at the top of your inbox. They used to behave like the other email, except the box you could check to delete them was on the opposite side. Eventually, probably because everyone deleted the ads, they removed the boxes altogether. So, the email-ish ads sit at the top of my inbox and I ignore them.
For all the data Google collects about me, I’d expect these ads to be more interesting. Honestly, I don’t recall ever wanting to click on one. Some are mildly interesting, but they don’t seem to be well-targeted at me. Some, like the one below, are positively weird.
I sent a copy of that to the Editor. Her response is my one-liner.
I’ve given up wondering what things can be found … if they really can be interested in me – I doubt it. I am careful though. Love the garage thought. Wonderful – I think I’ll swap with MuMu … and I hope that storm doesn’t cause you any havoc.
We were very lucky, Hilary. High winds, not too much rain but no damage and we didn’t lose electricity. MuMu was handling the storm better than most of us.
Trying to figure out how they decide which ads to show could be quite a mental exercise, but like you, I try to ignore them. :-) Hope Maddie survived the storm okay.
This one makes no sense, Judy. Unless they know something I don’t…hmmm.
Maddie had a tough day. She spent a lot of time in her Thundershirt, in her crate, or sitting next to/on one of us. But it’s over and we seem to be OK. I hope you were spared any damage.
The ads I get aren’t anything I would click on either. Since I rarely buy online, it may be difficult for the algorithm to come up with something appropriate.
The Editor’s response is priceless! Made me laugh.
Good grief Dan. Those birds could be transported to Yankee Stadium and substituted for all the ‘cardboard’ fans in the bleachers. At least the chatter would be real!
Sure hope Maddie was ok during storm. Here it rained so hard the noise was deafening. But we made it through fine. Hope the same is true for you.
I almost clicked on this one just to see what else they had, but…
We had more wind than rain here, Ginger. Only light damage to some trees in our area, but more significant damage has been reported not very far from us. Lots of people without power, and it looks like a long restoration process.
Maddie had a hard day. We did our best to console her, but I think she actually feels the pressure drop. This morning, all she wanted to do was sniff the new stuff that blew into our yard and grumble about the stuff that blew onto her porch.
The birds are pretty noisy fans. Just what the Yankees need !
Ha! OMG, I laughed so hard. Great reply from the Editor. I’ve gotten some weird ads, but that takes the cake, Dan. Did I ever tell you that my dad wanted me to be a mortician? He said I’d never run out of work — and he was not trying to be funny.
The preparations for the birds’ ballgame are outstanding.
Poor Maddie with the storms. Sending peaceful, secure vibes her way. Hugs on the wing.
Teagan the mortician….hmmmm? I’m going to try not to think about that.
I hope the birds got their game in before the storm hit. The fields are covered with debris this morning.
Maddie had a very hard day, there was just no consoling her. Fortunately, the storm has passed and we still have electricity – unlike 600,000 others in CT :(
I know everyone is glad it is over then, and yay for the electricity. It’s still too hot and humid to be without AC, even if the storm brought down the temperature.
This ‘big brother’ stuff has ceased to be scary to me; now it is just plain weird. Oh, the boys are back! I gotta give kudos to Sid. He’s just watching out for the betterment of his team. Stuff Smokey’s tail in a little hat and those crows wouldn’t have a clue. Poor Maddie. I hope she fared well. MuMu–just passing through, honey. Just passing through….
haha! I get such a kick out of your little guys! This is gross, but……our cats like to play at night. That is when the stray roach (or two) come out. I can hear them skittering around and when I turn on the light, Pumpkin or Piper is standing over a dead bug. I further bash the bug to make sure it is really dead, husband cleans and tosses it and then we settle down. Ah, the joys of pets.
I laughed as well. We have speed bumps, humps and tables. Apparently, it depends on how wide they are at the top. I think the sprinklers are attracting the birds. Maddie had a tough time, but is doing better today. Thanks.
I bet we have speed tables then, but the newest one the board had installed is a bump and no one likes it and it’s caused quite a bump in more ways than one. It’s being removed and replaced with one like all the others which is probably a table. Interesting! I never knew this about speed bumps! You learn something new everyday!
I’m glad Maddie is doing well, and hope she still is!
The Editor has a crack sense of humor! There are times I glance behind me, wondering what on earth is checking on my activities and what made it think I wanted to know about this or that gadget/supplement/exercise wonder. 😆
I don’t use gmail but we get those in-line ads too. Sometimes I click on them by accident (which, of course, is what they want). That ad, though, might be one I’d click on on purpose. You just never know when you might need something like that…

I think they have so much data now, that they don’t know what to make of it. Smokey would fit right in, maybe the cap would work.
Maddie had a tough day, but she’s better this morning. MuMu, was NOT happy, but she played with her scrunchy ball half the night, so …payback.

We didn’t get nearly as much as they had predicted. Lot’s of wind, not a lot of rain. I hope that changes soon for both of us.

ROFL!!! OMG!!!!! I laughed out loud. That’s pretty funny.
There’s a good crowd at the field! I guess a lot will be warming the bench.
You guys call the speed bumps humps! I had to read it 3 times to make sure I got it right. That’s different!
I hope Maddie gets through the storm without too much anxiety.

We survived the storm without incident, John. We are lucky. over half the state is without electricity still today (over 700,000 customers).
