Some of the trees and plants around here have turned the corner on spring and are waiting for summer. Others are just beginning to sprout their buds in anticipation. But, that isn’t the subject the title suggests.
As many longtime followers know, I spend part of each summer sharing only images on Mondays. With my hosting Thursday Doors and the addition of the Writing Challenge, and the normal increase in work as the days get longer and warmer, the drain on my weekend time is increasing. I’m not complaining, and I’m not switching into summer-mode yet, but there may be more days like today, when the time has slipped away.
I hope you all had a good weekend, and I hope the mothers in the US enjoyed a special day. I hope you enjoy the signs of spring that we’re seeing around here.
Summer does claim a lot of hours, and doesn’t it feel good! Meanwhile, there is your dogwood, and I wouldn’t complain if you showed us more pictures of that — what a beauty! And what lucky bees!

Thanks! The dogwood is a favorite. I hope it hangs around, as it’s not looking in great shape. I think I’ll include another picture on Wednesday, now that I know someone doesn’t mind. It was great seeing the first bees.

A standing cat! They do have legs after all.
Lovely dogwood, I miss those. Too cold up here for them….

MuMu stands so I can brush her better, but she did jump to my desk from the bed and then up to the shelf. MiMi says to remind you that her cradle is over six feet off the ground ;-)

It’s a beautiful day in your neighborhood. Now, I really want to know what you’re doing with your tools. :-)

I think we will be yanking the cars out of the garage in a few days. After that, I will be moving tools out of my workshop in order to have room to work on the conversion. I’ll have pictures before too long.

I love the third one with the leaves the most. Today is the first day that I wore my summer sandals. We’re on.

I do like that picture. Seeing shadows and line through the leaves always makes me smile. Go sandals!

Busy is as busy does, Dan. Monday photos of the furry critters and outside world are as good as anything and better than math problems when time slips away. Have an awesome week!

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. The time was spent doing fun things, so that’s good.
I hope you have a great week, and all your word problems are easy.

Cheryl is going to love your Bee pictures! All the pictures show me signs of summer and they are beautiful. As I look through my window I can see bright sun, a clear blue sky, warmth is beaming through the window. And then I open a door. Spring is not done with us yet, it’s still chilly!.

You’re right, Pam. Bright sun, but highs in the 60s here this week. It will be chilly.

Summer is around the corner … and for us, we expect the 17-year cicadas to arrive very soon … maybe by the end of the week.

All of your photos are beautiful, Dan, but some are breathtaking. The photo of the tree leaves belongs in a gallery. Truly. Amazing detail! Hope your day is perfect. 😊

I thought I replied to this early, Gwen. I think the app on my phone ate that.
I really appreciate your comment. I like these photos lot.

Your Dogwood is stunning!!
It’s beginning to feel like summer is just around the corner here too of late. It’s been hitting the 70’s in the afternoons, and the trees are blooming all over. I’ve broken out my Sunblock shirts and wide-brim hats! 😀
I hope you have a good week, Dan!

Ha! The girl is ready 🙂
We’re back in the 60s for a week. 70 sounds better, but I’m sure we’ll get there. The dogwood seems to be showing off this year.
I hope you have a good week, too, Deborah.

Dan, squirrels, rhododendrons, dogwood tree, MuMu and Maddie are just great. But the shots you managed to get of the bees is just outstanding. None here yet. 😪 BUT, the third photo is a masterpiece! That’s frame worthy!!

Thank you so much, Ginger. I was happy with the bee photos. I took them with my phone. Did to the lag and the movement, I wasn’t sure what I was going to get.
The usual suspects are predictable 😏

The second photo of the bee on the lilac–wow, Dan! Such a good one. The dogwood tree is so pretty. I rarely see any of these…lots of magnolia and redbud, instead. Shame. Mumu and my little outdoor cat, White Paws, look almost the same–socks up in the back and down in the front. If she ever wants a boyfriend, White Paws is such a little sweetheart… 😺😻

I’m glad you like the bees and the photos. MuMu might have to read your blog a little. I don’t think she’s comfortable with me fixing her up with a fellow.

Beautiful photos. I’m looking forward to doing all those outdoorsy summer things, chores and goofing off. I’m ready for something different!

Super photos of the coming summer, Dan. I liked that bumble bee shot. Takes a steady hand. I do understand your summer time constraints. It seems there is much more to do when the days get longer. Or maybe it is just more long days that let us do more. Have a great week.

Thanks John. I’m not sure which way the connection flows, but it does feel like there’s more to do once the weather gets warmer (and stays warmer, we’re back in the 50s and 60s).

If you are like me I fully intend to take advantage of winter to fix stuff. Then when winter comes I’m not in the mood.

Dan, I’m not willing to think about summer just yet. It will be upon us all too soon. Your photos are especially beautiful today – love the bee shots.

Those rhododendrons really pop! How is Squirrel Mama? Did you give her an extra peanut for Mothers’ Day?

We haven’t seen her for a few days. She may be up in a tree, or maybe she just moved on. We’re trying not to think of the other alternatives.

I know my time slipped away, aided in part by the time spent taking my parents to the doctor and waiting for the appointment to be over. :-) It’s almost 8 pm here, so 11 in your part of the world. But better late than never and I greatly enjoyed the photos. I’m going to be driving back to Illinois in a week and debating whether to just take a complete break, blog as the feeling strikes, or have something scheduled for each day and just respond to comments. We’ll see.

I love your spring pictures, Dan. I can understand you wanting to get out and about more during summer. I am sure this is one of the reasons reading and writing aren’t huge here in South Africa. We have good weather most of the year and people prefer to get out and about.

Good weather most of the year – that’s a luxury we’ll never see. We do enjoy the four seasons we have.

Love the photos as early Summer moves us along. I do love this time of year … your bee is cleverly taken – I’ve had a bumble bee around … and had to rescue a wasp and put it outside … and I enjoy seeing critters all – cheers Hilary

I do like all kinds of critters. The photos of the bee were lucky. I was using my phone and I’m never quite sure how that will work.
