Wow, it looks really wet there! I suppose the ground was parched and is happier now. We are getting that heat now, not nice. I love the puddle photo. Is that really a squash flower and not a zucchini one? They look so much the same. You may have seen how my father and Italians stuff and fry them. Yum.
According to my wife, it’s a squash. We also have been known to fry them. We had three days with thunderstorms and heavy rain. Dry and cooler now, 78°f (26°c). Looks like the rain returns on Friday.
That poor mock orange! All others seem to wear the rain very well. Summer storms can be lulus. As for the pistachios, I can only say that multi-tasking is overrated.
I found out why our drought stopped and the rain started. Our community is supposed to get painted. But first they have to power-wash awnings, etc. You know the workers don’t want to get rained on while they power-wash — they might get wet… 🤪🙄
Sometimes you feel like a nut…but only with both hands. This also applies to peanuts in their shell. Make sure beer is at the ready and don’t do this in front of Smokey.
Dan how did you get a picture of the lightning bolt chipmunk ? Are you a whisperer or did you bait him with peanuts ? Like that speed limit sign in the puddle…
All the critters in the post today…that was fun! Your reflection photos are so pretty, Dan. You could do an entire post on those. You know, kind of a reflective posting….🤣
Your one liner is a truism!! Pistachios are too much work! Easier to eat pistachio ice cream!
Love how everything is coated in raindrops. Chippy, the bunny and the squirrel all look like they’re coming out for a breath of ‘dry’ air! Good of you to straighten out Maddie’s porch. She likes her areas to be “just so”!
MiMi may not have asked you for a belly rub, but she looks likes she’s giving you a ‘thank you’ kiss! Wait! She might be biting you! Lol.
Enjoy these couple of quiet weather days. I don’t think we’ll ever have a stable weather system again.

Hi Dan – fun post … I just prefer shelled with a touch of salt on them … but understand critters come first sometimes. We are having glorious weather … but the storms come tomorrow they expect … typical tennis time!! Cheers Hilary
Tee-hee! That is so true. Terrific one-liner, Dan. The gallery is beautiful. I see you fell for the many-clawed floofy-belly trap. =^-^= Hugs on the wing!
I wish I had a spot for a Mock Orange because your beautiful blooms make me drool. If you had the storm we had, I bet Maddie was not happy. I am glad for the rain, but that sucker made some noice.
We’re not sure we have the mock orange in the best place. It does well each year, but it is not thriving by any means.
That storm drove Maddie crazy. She was so scared, almost inconsolable. We tried everything we knew, but nothing worked. She just wanted to hide in the back of her crate – at one point, she put herself under the cushion.
Love your gallery of images! Have noticed I see more bunnies in the suburbs than I saw in the forest:) I like pistachios, not because it’s a single handed task, but because …. I like to eat them:)
maybe I should take their example. These last 6 years in the forest have really spoiled me with nature, and has taken a long time to get used to normal city traffic and concrete surroundings:)

Most excellent bunny shot. As for pistachios, they do seem like too much work.

The bunnies are out and about later in the morning than normal. I’m laying in a supply, so I have some in the future.

Yeah, the mock orange took a beating. I like your thoughts on multitasking ;-)

Not only is it impossible to multi-task, but it’s also impossible to eat just a few.

They do present a challenge on both fronts.

The water on the mock orange blossom makes me think of tears as it’s trying to get through the fence…

Awww, that’s such a sad thought, Pam. It made it through the fence, but it paid a price.

Oh my, no. Selling peanuts in front of Smokey is a full time job, and you won’t get many peanuts. And yes, we need some beer.

Excellent point. I do like pistachios, and I’m betting that Chippy would, too. Love his tummy.

I could sit outside and open them for Chippy all day.

LOL! It sure is!! We try to buy them already shelled these days.
The puddle cracked me up because my brain read…” pee time”! OMG!! LOL!! Sometimes I am just an 8 year old in a grown-up’s body.

I think you’re right about the weather, Ginger. We are moving away from anything close to normal.
All the critters were happy to see some dry weather.
The cat is MuMu (impossible to tell) and she is biting. I’ll call it a love bite 🙂❤️

That’s true…unless they’re the shelled ones. :-) Enjoy the photos as usual and just seeing a puddle makes me envious.

We had puddles everywhere, Janet. Walking between storms isn’t my favorite thing to do, but it was the only way to walk.

Eating pistachios sounds like eating an orange, you can’t multitask while doing that either. I tried and ended up with a big mess of drips everywhere.
