Linda Hill has been kind enough to get our blogging blood cells flowing this year, and I am taking advantage of her JusJoJan prompts as often as I can. Today’s prompt comes courtesy of one of my favorite bloggers, J-Dub over at Jilywily. Her prompt is unbelievable – no, that’s not an exclamatory adjective, that’s the actual prompt.

Let me think, what’s unbelievable?

As I write this, I’m watching the fourth NFL (US football) playoff game this weekend. The other three are history. All three were won by three points! All three were won by the underdog visiting team, and all three were won by a field goal, kicked as time ran out in regulation play. This post will be scheduled before the game between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs will be over, but it’s already been unbelievable. – Monday: This just in. the fourth game almost ended the same way. The Bills took the lead with 13 seconds left in the game. In those 13 seconds, Kansas City scored, forcing the game in overtime where they scored again and won! That was unbelievabl.

Also unbelievable – the fact that it was 17°f (-8°c) Sunday morning and it felt warm. That’s what a few days of single digit (f) mornings will do to you.

  1. I love the picture of Maddie sniffing those leaves. You need to do some ‘splaining dad so she understands! 🤗 Pretty sunrise shots and the frozen leaves and brook are really neat. Old Glory looks like she’s hugging the flag pole for warmth.

You’re right Dan, 17*F feels better than single digit readings, but just barely!

Hope today starts a good week for all of you. Keep that wood stove burning!

    1. She had the same curious expression when boy dogs had somehow marked the sides of snow piles. I’m not having “the talk” with her, Ginger. The flag does appear to be hugging the pole. I was wondering if parts of it froze to the pole. Things around here froze quickly after a short thaw.

I hope you have a good week Stay warm,

  2. Omg, that last game was so good! I was upset for my youngest that KC won, but he said no worries it was still a great game. Normally, he pulls for KC, but wanted the Bills to win last night. That Gabe Davis was unbelievable! 4 times!! 🤑 But it was also crazy that KC came back to win with so little time left! Wow!

    1. 13 seconds shouldn’t have been enough time. That was amazing. I do think the OT rules for playoffs should require both teams to have one possession. But, that’s for the “Experts” to figure out.

  3. I was in New England once when it was -17 and had my jacket open. I finally found out what ‘dry cold’ meant!

    1. Thats a deadly temperature, GP. Not something you want to find out the hard way.

        1. Some mornings, I take Maddie out and it doesn’t seem so bad. Then when we get over to the park and the flag is blowing in the wind, I feel like I’m going to die.

  5. Wow. I saw some football hoopla on IG but not being in the states I don’t even know when these playoffs are goin on. I’m sorry your team is out. I hope your guys on the i e fare better. It looks dang cold up there, Dan. But, it is ‘unbelievably’ beautiful by the river, ice patches and all. I hope you have terrific week.

    1. Thanks Cheryl. Winter gives us some interesting scenes. I’m glad you like them. Next Sunday, your old LSU buddy, Joe Burrow (Cincinnati QB) faces the Chiefs in KC. If he wins that game, it’s onto the Super Bowl.

      1. I certainly wish Joe the best! What a guy.

  6. Your photos make me reach for another layer of flannel, but they sure tell the story of winter. My favorites are the frozen stream and the frozen trestle. I hope you and Maddie stay warm between walks!

    1. When we return from our walks, she likes for us to leave her coat on for a while. It is cold out there.

  7. I hate the fact that it gets dark so early in the day, but it does let us see some beautiful sunsets that we might otherwise miss, as you so wonderfully show us, Dan. I don’t follow football very closely but somehow turned on the Buffalo/KC game with about 5 minutes to go in the 4th quarters. It really was unbelievable how well the quarterbacks were able to perform under that amount of pressure. We have had some cold weather here, but nothing to compare with what New England has endured.

    1. That was a wild game, Mike. The best thing about winter is the views we get through the bare trees. I keep snapping photos because I know leaves will soon block that view. Stay warm.

  8. The KC/Bills game really was unbelievable and exciting, Dan. That’s how I like football! Even though the Packers lost, the saving grace was that the Bucs also lost. Thank goodness the Super Bowl will be free of Tom Brady. Dude needs to retire.

It’s snowing here, but I’m not looking forward to the next two days with highs in the single digits. Ugh. Guess I’ll be cooking and finally taking the Christmas tree down.

    1. Single-digit highs – yikes! Yeah, stay inside. I was sad to see the Packers lose. The SuperBowl will be interesting. I always just hope it’s a good game (unless we’re in it).

      1. Our teams may both be starting with new QBs next season. It will be interesting to watch what happens with Rodgers and our free agents.

        1. For now, it looks like the Steelers are going to give Haskins a chance to grab the slot. Mason Rudolf doesn’t have what it takes (in my opinion). I hope we can add some strength to the offensive line and I wish they’d get rid of our unimaginative OC. I’m tired of, run for short, run for short, broken-up pass, punt.

    1. Thanks Jan. We bundle up against the cold (even the dog). I find it easier to deal with than oppressive heat, and we do get our share of that. We will be cold again this week. I’m curious to see if the CT River freezes over. It hasn’t done that in years.

    1. My father always said, if our team wasn’t in the game, we should root for our division or our conference. I’m not sure I can bring myself to root for the Bengals. We’re up to 31, a good day.

  19. You have some very pretty sunsets/sunrises, Dan. I don’t get up early enough for sunrise thanks, kitties, for letting me sleep later I was glad Brady’s team lost but disappointed that the Packers did. My younger son is always told he looks just like Aaron Rodgers, so GB has a soft spot in my heart.

I won’t be up to see the sunrise for much longer. I’m not walking this dog at six.

Taking a pass on your colder temps. It is a balmy 54 degrees here. Brrrr

  27. Winter is colder here this year, and we even have snow, which hasn’t happened in a while. What is unbelievable to me is that I feel warmer when the temperature is under 40F than when it’s above it. When it’s above 40F, I have goosebumps. I don’t have them when it’s below that.

  29. Yes, it was unbelievable. Both games we watched were nail-biters. I’m sorry to say I yelled at the TV. Both teams lost. Yelling doesn’t help. I’m the calm, steady, never upset person- except with sports. 🙂 I keep staring at the old red bridge over the Connecticut River. It is a beauty!
