One of our cats (they’re sisters), MuMu wakes us up on a fairly regular basis. Sometimes, she sees something outside. She jumps on the self by the window, smacks the shade around and yells. I’m assuming she sees the bunny eating, sometimes the bunny triggers one of the motion-sensitive lights. I don’t know what MuMu expects me to do.

Other times, MuMu wants to be scratched or brushed. She doesn’t always yell for this; she makes more of a soft groan. Lately, she’s been getting physical. The following one-liner is how I interpret her action and the voice inside her little fuzzy head.

“(smack) Are you awake? (smack, smack) Are you awake? (smack, SMACK) Oh, good, you’re awake. Can you scratch behind my ears?”

I think I’m being picked on.

  1. Thanks for the laugh! Yes, I think I can picture that. What a beautiful morning sky you captured, and it’s about time, yes? Spring is sure taking its time this year. It’s not possible to understand people who leave their junk for others to pick up. Obviously that little bird is trying to pick up all that seed you left out — how tidy of him!

    1. Yes, the little bird was working hard to pick up all the seed that I “dropped.” We have been seeing some wonderful blue skies in the morning. Sometimes followed by storms, but I’ll take what we can get. The worst thing at the park is the kids who drop bottles on the court, within 10’ of the bins. I don’t know any words to describe that.

  2. Spring has officially arrived – Maddie’s cot is out! I love the second photo of the sun and the cloud – great shot. Your lilacs and forsythia are ahead of ours so thanks for the share.

    1. The forsythia has just popped out. Most of the lilacs seem cautious, but that one is ready to go. The cot shed its fuzzy coat and has rejoined the porch. I guess we’re ready for spring.

  3. Clearly MuMu is telling you to take a bunny picture for River.

    1. I think that’s exactly what she’s screaming at. I’ll hav a bunny pic for Saturday.

  4. Those forsythia brought back memories! Most of our backyard fence was covered by these bushes. Mom would bring some branches in the house before Easter to be certain they would bloom before she hung the hollowed out, decorated eggs on it.

    1. That’s a sweet memory, GP. Thanks for sharing that.

The photo of the sun and the cloud is a beauty. Sadly, Forsythia and Lilacs not in bud here yet. However, weeds are doing quite well! 🤗

Today’s one-liner is hysterical. If you were ever owned by a cat, or are owned by one now, you can so relate to this! MuMu has no problem asserting herself.

I love the hand painted rock on the bench. I love the idea behind leaving it there where it can be seen. Someone is supposed to pick it up and take it home and then paint a rock themselves and place it somewhere else where it can be found.

I do not, however, like the idea that it’s okay to leave your garbage wherever you drop it. 😡 If there aren’t any trash receptacles, bring it home with you.

Hallelujah! Maddie’s cot is out! Spring really has arrived! 🤗

    1. I’m glad you like the pictures, Ginger. I left the rock there, not being talented enough to paint one of my own. I do put my water bottle in the bin, and there are bins all over both parks. I never have understood why people can’t walk a few feet.

MuMu has been getting vocal throughout the night. She’s angling to be an outside cat (and we have come close to making her wish come true).

Maddie says we’ve entered prime sitting weather.

I hope you have a great rest of the week.

  7. You are a quick learner of ‘cat’ language. So someone left water bottles and an Easter bunny rock on the same bunch?! Bet they don’t get any jellybeans in their Easter basket! Your little squirrel visitors are so cute. Ours are so skittish. Fun to watch but skittish as all getout.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. If you want them to stop being skittish, carry a bag of penuts.

No jellybeans for the bottle droppers.

As for learning cat language, I’d be happy to exit class without getting a diploma.

  8. Oh MuMu, you are a sassy little lady. Between you and Gibbs, I see a band forming. Or perhaps the Cat Association for Twilight Screamers. Perhaps mom and dad need ear plugs and a separate bedroom? Or for Miss MuMu to ask her bidding during the day?

Dan, I’m giving you and the Editor 1000 sympathy bonus points for your non-sleep MuMu hours. We love our furry kids, but what a group of crazies, huh?

    Happy screaming/yowling Wednesday!

    1. Sympathy points accepted, Mary. I’ll start leaving my laptop on so MuMu can text Gibbs and they can plot the overthrow of the world of sleeping humans. She os one very loud little kitty girl.

I hope you have a great week. I hope those Midwest storms didn’t make it to your area.

    1. She has always been a demanding little girl, but her night moves are becoming annoying. This got worse with the time change, which, since she sleeps 22 hours a day, doen’t make any sense at all.

  13. It has been said that cats probably see their human companions as staff. I agree. So does MuMu I think. Mother Nature really is such a tease! But soon enough we will be complaining about the heat. Typical people.

  17. I can never understand those who litter. I mean how hard is it to walk a few feet and toss the bottle. Wonderful photos Dan. I’m sorry someone is eating your bulbs and picking up your seed. Maybe you can trade a peanut for some peace.

    1. Growing stuff is a battle around here, John. But we are reluctant to spread pesticides and other chemicals. I put more seed down today and did a better job of covering it. I’d rather have to birds in the yard.As for the litter, Im with you, I don’t get it.

    1. I don’t think any other region in this country has as many shades of green as you guys. We’ve been bouncing between low 30s and upper 70s this week as spring and winter fight it out. I’m glad you’re enjoying your new home.

  20. I love all the photos Dan. That blue sky sure is beautiful. Maybe you could get MuMu a back scratcher. 🤭 litter is pretty rare here but not non existent. ‘Night crawler’ like to snack and drink. But on this side of the mountain they usually twist the debris and tuck it inside a fence space. 🤔

    1. Thanks Cheryl. I think MuMu got herself a back scratcher – his name id Dan. I don’t understand litter. especially when the trash cans are so close.

  22. I could have sworn I commented on this already but I must have been interrupted while reading the post. Anyway…the one-liner made me chuckle. It reminds me of how our younger daughter used to come into her older sister’s room and whisper, “Are you sleeping?” No answer. She’d repeat it louder and louder until of course her sister was awake. Much the same sort of thing, I think. :-)

    1. Our house is divided by gates to keep Maddie away from the cats.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I was wondering about that. We have one stationary gate and two moveable gates. David made a door for the kitchen where Marley sleeps and reinforced one of the doors to Mama Cat’s room which makes it like a fortress.
