Clouds – CFFC

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is interesting for many reasons, one of which is that she looks deep into the future with her prompts. I’ve known that this week was going to feature clouds, for a long time, and I’ve been looking forward to it. The hardest part for me will be to limit my selection to an maximum of 16 photos. I’m actually trying to post 14 photos in a gallery, but I’m not having much luck getting down to that number. OK, Cee says:

“This week our topic is Clouds. Any type of cloud from a happy white puffy clouds to stormy gray or greenish toned clouds or even a colorful sunrise or sunset. Have fun.”

Under the gallery and under my unabashed bit of marketing, is the definitive statement on clouds from one of my favorite musical artists.

  1. These are wonderful, not just the photos but the skies. I especially love that 17-degree sunrise behind the bare trees, but I have to say that the capture of the bird mid-flight against the clouds is very impressive! A good start to my day — thank you!

  2. Love Joni Mitchell! I have a life-long fascination with clouds so these were a real treat to see.

The shot where the sun is trying to punch through the cloud cover and the one from the plane are great. They’re all beautiful and so unique, I couldn’t pick a favorite.

And it’s nice to see Old Glory flying proudly, even against a cloudy sky, and not needing to be at half mast.

    Happy Monday Dan.

    • Thanks Ginger. These are all some of my favorites. I’m always looking at clouds.

The first thing that came to mind was Joni Mitchell’s album “Clouds” – There were so many great songs on that album.

For once, finding a flag photo wasn’t a problem. I was glad, too because although the flag status is “Full” the two flags I walk past were still at half staff.

I hope you have a nice week.

  3. Beautiful, beautiful photos, Dan. Since moving into the Prescott area, I’m forever in awe of the magnificence of our skies. Our area is over 5,000 feet in elevation, and it feels like I can touch the clouds. 🌞

  4. Couldn’t you just look up and photograph clouds all day?! These are beauties, Dan. My favorite, though, is the plane emerging from the clouds. Talk about right place, right time…that is a perfect shot.

  5. Lovely cloud i ages Dan! 👏🏻 Number one looks like a cloud bird! Number 13 is my favorite. I just love when different cloud types form together in the sky. It’s like splash art. I may have to jump in on this challenege. Have a great week!

  6. Well done, Dan. I’ve often found the wide variety of clouds interesting.

We had our share of low clouds and fog last week that interfered with two children’s authors being unable to fly in and participate in our Humboldt County Children’s Author Festival.

  7. Clouds are among my favourite things to photograph and this is a lovely selection. Joni Mitchell is so wonderful – while I love this version, I love the later, slower, deeper version best.
