Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week is more difficult for me than most people might think. Cee’s instructions are:

“This week our topic is Animals Unaware you are photographing them. They can be your pets, a friends pet or any wild animal, including birds, marine life, farm or out in the wild. Have fun.”This week our topic is Animals Unaware you are photographing them. They can be your pets, a friends pet or any wild animal, including birds, marine life, farm or out in the wild. Have fun.”

The reason this challenge was hard for me, is that in so many of the pictures I have of animals, they are (or seem to be) aware that I’m there. The gallery starts with a few recent photos taken specifically for this challenge and some that I found in the archive.

  1. Wonderful selection! I find it really difficult to take pictures of birds, insects and animals because they won’t sit still.

    1. I know. For every photo in this gallery, there are 5-10 blurry streaks that got deleted.

      1. Only 5-10? Well done!

  2. Cats do like their naps, yes/no? LOL

    1. Naps? More like sustained sleep, but they do enjoy it.

    1. I know you’ve been patient with me. Once those guys are aware, they’re on the run.

  5. Love the bunny at the drain pipe. Is he waiting to take a shower?

MiMi wrapped up in her tail without a care in the world. Great shot.

Love the turtles trying to catch some sun rays.

Sundance and Preston showing off what cats do best…sleep!

Nice gallery Dan. Happy Monday to a great week ahead.

    1. Thanks Ginger. Maybe that bunny was waiting for some water.

MiMi is almost always unaware. She sees me, it’s going to be a blurry photo.

When those cats wake up it’s going to be, “Oh, are you here to feed me?” Same with the squirrels. If they see me, I better have a peanut.

Enjoy one more warm day, Ginger. I hope it’s the start of a great week.

  7. It seems to me that animals always know when we are trying to take a picture of them; I never got a photo of a bird that didn’t seem to be looking at me with attitude. And ducks! They smirk! I enjoyed all these captures, but did you have to use the phrase “found a peanut”?

    1. Sorry. These were as close as I could get to unaware. They do seem to notice me sneaking up on them.

  8. You did great, Dan! That first photo is so pretty–beautiful lighting on both the leaves and the squirrel. Little Chippy is adorable. That is one heckuva big peanut for such a little guy. I guess he would beg to differ, though.

    1. Chippy will take two of those back to his hole for the winter, Lois. They are amazing. The squirrel on the roof was frustrated. He knew there were peanuts, but didn’t know the trick (roof over door -> roof of small shed -> trash can -> ground) to get down. Someone threw a peanut up to him.

  9. Awwww….Chippyyyy…. Not to worry Dan. Those critters are so engrossed in their treats they don’t care who is there! Those bunnies are huge! Happy Monday. Ha! Me and ani als caught unaware… there aren’t enough days. 🤷‍♀️

  10. Do you really think Smokey was unaware of you taking his picture? I’ve always thought of him as a camara-monger.

  11. That one bunny in front of the gutter spout made me think about ours, who usually congreate near those areas after a rain to nosh on the wet grass and get a drink, especially when it has been hot out. Chippy’s peanut IS as big as his head!

    1. We put very low water bowls (plastic flower pot bases) out for them, too.

  17. Erm… Dan… I think every one of these critters was well aware that you and your camera were there. ;) But that does nothing to change the fact that they are marvelous. Thanks for this delightful start to the week. Hugs on the wing.

  18. I can see where this one was a challenge, Dan. Animals are so much more aware of their surroundings than humans. I think my favorite of these is the bluejay!
