Christmas Take Out – SoCS

It’s Christmas Eve, and a very hectic day for those who celebrate Christmas. Still, David and I have a good reason to be at the bar today, at least for a few minutes. We’ll be kind to you and keep our conversation short. It is Saturday, and Linda G. Hill has given us the gift of her Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. So, before we begin, let’s take a moment to thank Linda for fifty-two Saturday prompts, fifty-two landing zones for One-liner Wednesday and thirty-one days of Just-Jot-January. Note to Santa: Linda has been a very good girl. OK, the prompt:

“Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is ‘cozy.’ Use it any way you like. Have fun! (And Merry Christmas if I don’t come back before then!)”

Since we were not planning on having a beer today, we’d both be surprised.

“Hi David. I didn’t expect to see you here today. I thought you’d be snuggled up all cozy at home.”

“My wife’s family is here, Dan. Nothing cozy about that crew. I’m here to pick up the food we ordered for tomorrow’s meal.”

“Me too. Do you have time for a bowl of smoking bishop?”

“As long as it’s made with John Howell’s Bourbon and three cherries.”

“Cheryl. Merry Christmas. We’re here to pick up our to-go orders, but I’m going to treat my friend to a bit of holiday cheer.”

“Will you be joining him, Dan?”

“Of course. I’d be a terrible host to let him drink alone.”

“Very considerate. Here we go. Bourbon, seltzer and ice. Three cherries and a cold draft of Modelo.”

“Merry Christmas!”

And Merry Christmas from David, Dan, Cheryl and Skippy to all of you who visit with us during the year. I hope you enjoy the small gallery.

But first, for those of you who have read all or some of the Dreamer’s Alliance Series, I’d like to share the family’s favorite commercial and Christmas wishes from Zach, Abbie, Uncle Mike, Billy and Geno.

  1. Love those morning skies, especially those rippled clouds that look like water. I think the ice skating rink will be well used these next few days! What a nice thing for the town to do. It’s zero degrees here!

Old Glory isn’t deterred by these freezing temperatures. Always a treat to see our flag proudly flying.

Merry Christmas to you and the Editor and Faith, and of course MiMi, MuMu and Preston.

    • Thanks Ginger. It’s 7 here, so I won’t be adding pictures from a morning walk to the pile today. I’ll have one less cookie instead of exercise.

I wish you a very Merry Christmas! Stay warm and stay safe.

  2. Are you lacing up your skates right now Dan? That rink looks desolate. 😉 The commercial is sweet. I always loved what Folgers came up with. 🥺 I had a pretty great Sazerac rendition this week with our son at the steakhouse. It was a smokey version.Apparently I’m the only soulin Boquete with a bottle of Absenthe.🫢 A very Merry Christmas to everyone from the land of rainbows. ❤️

  3. Ha. I can’t say I envy David. I had to Google smoking bishop — I love mulled wine. But now I’m giggling about how it sounds to “Google a bishop”… :D
Dan, those characters are now family. (I hope to review book 3 soon.) It’s fitting that you included them here. Merry Christmas to you, yours, and the characters. Hugs.

  4. Thank you for thanking Linda. THANK YOU, LINDA! for your fun and interesting prompts and your consistent consistency. Thank you, Dan for that sweet tree and star commercial, your photos or warm sunsets on cold days, and insightful observations, especially with the leaves. Merry Christmas and best wishes in the year ahead!
