I’m not sure how many of you are familiar with Pinterest. It’s a photo collecting or storing or sharing site. You can upload photos into “Boards.” Others can see your boards and they can copy your photos to their boards. Sometimes, Pinterest notices that I haven’t been active on the site, so they send me Pins to look at. I have several boards. One is called “Vintage Ads” and one is called “Vintage Photos.”

In my Vintage Photos board, I have pictures I took at the Vintage Radio Museum, photos of radios from the early 20th century – you know, the kind with tubes and knobs and static. Pinterest sent me link to a photo that, according to them and their algorithms, I might want to add to my Vintage Photos board. It was a photo of a stereo receiver that I purchased after graduating from college.

So, stuff that was invented during my lifetime is now considered vintage – that’s just great!

This post is part of Linda G. Hill’s fun weekly series One-Liner Wednesday. If you have a one-liner, and would like to join in on the fun, you can follow this link to participate and to see the one-liners from the other participants.

Spring flies by pretty fast around here, so I’m snagging every photo I can get. I hope you like the gallery.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  2. Yes, I laughed — but with sympathy, of course. It’s a shock at first, but you get used to it. Back in my working years, I mentioned Peter, Paul and Mary to a group of co-workers and half of them said “who are they?” The other half groaned. That was my first time being vintage. When spring comes, it comes in glory, doesn’t it? That white hyacinth is lovely.

    1. At least I’m in good company. I guess the algorithm doesn’t actually look in my board. PErhaps it matches the other user’s use of the word vintage and mine and connects us. I was among the last of my generation to retire. I guess it’s a good thing. I’d be going crazy now. Spring does open in glory. Little bits here and there, but I’ll take them all.

  3. Terrific pictures. I know how you feel about being “vintage” myself.

    1. Thanks. I like Willow’s thought, that we’re improving with age like a fine wine.

You’re a good bit ahead of us in the spring department, nothing blooming here yet.
    Especially bunnies.

    1. The 3 days we had in the 80s and 90s pushed all the stragglers out. Things are popping up everywhere (including the bunnies). This bunny was pretending. Like, “I’m just eating the weeds in your yard. I didn’t eat those flowers…”

  5. Things come and go so fast these days anything is ‘vintage’ after 10 years….even less. When your vintage becomes ancient…..well, we won’t think about that!

Wouldja look at the length of Smokey’s tail! Holy cow!

  6. I really “makes” your day when you realize you are now at an older age (as others see you). I’ve never been called vintage, but I’ll skip over what made me realize it all.
Thanks for the Chippy photo, been a long time since I’ve seen one. And the flag looks grand!

    1. I guess I’m OK being vintage. As they say, it beats the alternative. Chippy says hi!

Here we go again with WP!

Love the “was it something I said” shot. Perfect.

The flowering quince look great. Mine have no blossoms yet,

If you get tired from spring cleanup, you should sit down in a vintage chair and read a vintage book while sipping a vintage wine!

    1. Haha – I have a vintage chair, Ginger. One of the old aluminum and nylon web folding chairs. I’ve replaced the webbing once, and it needs to be replaced again. It’s a comfortable chair.

I’m not sure who was sitting next to the goose, but I thought it would make a great shot. Then, it flew off as soon as I snapped.

  8. Vintage is defined as anything over 40 years old. Boy, do I own a fair amount of vintage items. :-) I bought two Forsythia plants this week myself, and I saw my first bee. :-)

    Liked by 1 person

    1. OK, so I have a house full of vintage, including the two owners ;-)

The Forsythia is going in the ground today, along with some milkweed plants. The bees are back – I’m glad.

  9. I love all the photos. Spring is busting out all over where you live! It’s slowly making its way here. If Smoky eats too many more of those peanuts, he’s not going to be able to waddle up on your deck to ask for more. I was shocked and appalled when I first became aware I’m now vintage. But, as you say, it sure beats the alternative.

    1. At least we’re a good vintage, Liz ;-)

Smokey and a few others are still carrying their “winter weight.” They’ve been begging like crazy. This is a hard time for them to find food, especially as everyone cleans their yards.

  10. Most things Imowned ‘back in the day’ are no longer even sold. Last night I was looking for a clothes hamper with a lid like we used to have. They are all vintage now, so eBay or Etsy are your only hope of finding one.

I love your spring photos. Our rhododendron has a lot of blooms, but most of the azalea blooms are withered now. All our trees are filled leafed in. At least the weather is nice with cool mornings and warm afternoons.

    1. Everything popped when we had those three hot days. We’re back to cool nights/warm days. I’m good being vintage ;-)

  11. I like the contrast between Smokey’s black fur and the white railing. I also noticed as your caption mentioned that the rabbit thankfully left the blooms, but only nibbled on some leaves. The leaves will grow back.

    1. They will, Frank, but the bunny keeps them nicely trimmed ;-)

The lack squirrels are so photogenic. They’re cute, and they seem to know it.

  13. Vintage? LOL My dad used to respond, as you’ve mentioned, “It beats the alternative.” He lived until he was 97 and enjoyed every moment of it. Wonderful photos, Dan. Spring has sprung!

  14. Be quick snagging the photos. The hot spells here are speeding the daffodils along this year. I am glad I left the the clover grow in the lawn. It gives the bunnies something to eat instead of the daylilies. And they wait to munch on the crocus leaves until they have finished blooming. So it its all good. Happy Wednesday.

    1. Your photos nicely evoke/chronicle the first weeks of spring, Dan! And I hear you about items from our youth becoming “vintage.” I still have my portable manual typewriter from college, and it looks…um…vintage. I never use it anymore, but my teen daughter did a couple years ago as a goof. :-)

      Liked by 2 people

      1. Haha – that’s vintage, Dave. Our daughter has a typewriter we owned before she was born. I spend a lot of time at that keyboard.

    2. Very considerate of them to wait, John. They’re nibbling on everything, but our “lawn” is full of clover and tasty weeds, so they seem to be finding all they need.

  16. At the car show last weekend, this older gentlemen was standing by his 2-seater auto. He asked me when was the last time I sat in one of those. I looked at him and said, “Never!” He smiled and said, “I didn’t think you were that old.” My reply was, “I’m sure.” I resisted adding ‘geezer!’ to my response.
Pinterest is bugging me. I will not enter my birthdate so they can send me things they think I will like. What does age have to do with it?! Think I’m paranoid much?? 😆

    1. I haven’t been posting much on Pinterest, Lois, or Instagram for that matter. I get enough email notifications from WordPress. We might be vintage, but we aren’t geezers yet ;-)

  17. Huh, I thought things needed to be 100 years old or older to be vintage…you learn something new everyday!
Well, I guess I’m in your vintage boat too. The way things are feeling I’d like some of those vintage items on hand like a turntable, a typewriter, and an old fashioned or should I say vintage land line.

The spring plants and flowers look wonderful, Dan. I a few trees in the neighborhood budding out so bees and flowers will soon be here! Although we had a bit of snow yesterday! 😃

    1. It felt like it was going to snow this morning, Deborah, but it should warm up later. I thought vintage would be 100-plus years, too. I guess not. Kids today have no patience ;-) We still have a land line. Actually, we have a working rotary dial Princess phone.

  21. Dan, I guess when items invented during my lifetime are referred to as vintage, I just lean into that description and make myself feel I am now of “high quality” as well lol. I do wonder if maybe newer generations are for whatever reason “rushing” to categorize things as being vintage age? Carpenter bees and I have a troubled past. At a prior residence, they decided to bore into a part of the house and we engaged in open warfare. Fortunately, they were the only casualties.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. High quality, rare and hopefully from a very good year, Bruce. I have done battle with carpenter bees, and I’ve tried giving them some places to dig in (away from the house). I guess, now that your entire music collection is in your pocket or in the cloud, anything that had to be plugged into a wall outlet and remained in your living room is vintage.

  28. I always like your one-liner photos Dan. I saw my first Chippy last Summer in one of the large Metroparks. I took a ton of photos of it. I go to Pinterest occasionally to find a vintage photo to use in a post and I can get lost while wading through there. I had a similar “vintage” experience. A new shop moved into a strip mall which advertised “Antiques” on its door. People in our City’s Facebook forum were chatting about all the unique items in this store, so I walked by to look in the windows … I was taken aback when I saw most of the objects in the window were items I had used or played with. I actually took pics of those items and did a post poking fun at myself for being vintage.

    1. That’s funny. I’ve seen some of the toys I played with as a kid in antique shops. It makes you think. I’d like to read that post. Could you point me to it?

      1. Yes, I just gazed in the window (in wonderment as I felt old) and took some photos knowing I could use them in a Wordless Wednesday post which would fall on my 65th birthday. The old-time cookie jars especially and my grandmother had that same fan which always looked like it was on its last leg. Maybe you played with this toy fire truck? Here is the WW post Dan:
