We’re back in the 70-80° (21-27°c) range this week and next. Not quite summer, but when it climbs into the upper 80s, it feels like summer. Enough like summer to send David and I to the bar for a bit of cool refreshment. It’s been a busy week, so I might have to bring David up to date. Of course, I’ll see if I can work in a response to Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt.
“Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is ‘starts with over.’ Find a word that starts with ‘over’ and use it for your prompt. Enjoy!”
If we were having a beer, we’d feel like we deserved it.
“Cheryl, I see you joined Dan’s writing challenge. That was a beautiful poem.”
“Thank you, David. It’s an interesting challenge. Have you thought about joining?”
“You know I don’t have a blog.”
“That doesn’t matter. Dan will post it on his.”
“No thanks. I’m having enough fun reading the entries.”
“You’ve been reading my blog, David.”
“I always read your blog, Dan. It’s been a bit overwhelming lately, but it’s all good. Especially the stuff written by the others.”
“Thanks. I think there was a compliment in there.”
“Is there a drink order anywhere in here?”
“Yes, Cheryl. I will have my usual John Howell’s Bourbon. I’m assuming Dan will have a beer.”
“That sounds good to me.”
“I’ll get those. You boys want any food today?”
“Just the drinks for now, Cheryl.”
“OK. Here’s that bourbon, a glass of seltzer and a glass of ice. Yes, there are cherries in the bourbon. Dan, here’s a Modelo, although I have an overwhelming suspicion, I shouldn’t give it to you.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Let’s just say I saw your car at Scooter’s.”
“OK, you got me. I wanted a burger, fries, and a hot dog. You guys have good burgers, but I just wanted that simple combination.”
“But Scooter’s doesn’t have a liquor license.”
“I know. That’s why I’m here.”
“Now that that’s settled, can we move on?”
“Sure, David. What’s on your mind?”
“Nothing much, but I was wondering where you were this week?”
“I spent a couple nights at Faith’s.”
“Watching Preston?”
“Feeding Preston.”
“I think you enjoy spending time with him, Dan.”
“I do. He is my buddy. He even sat on the couch and watched a movie with me.”
“What movie?”
“Eldorado.”
“Ride boldly ride?”
“Yes, that one.”
“Who wrote that poem, the one the sidekick keeps quoting?”
“The sidekick is called Mississippi, David.”
“Played by a young James Caan if I recall.”
“Yes. Not his first movie, but an early one.”
“OK. But who wrote the poem? Or, did they just write that for the movie.”
“No. The poem was written by Edgar Allen Poe.”
“Really. Does that work in the movie? I mean, would the poem have been written in the time frame?”
“The movie takes place after the Civil War. Poe wrote that poem in the eighteen thirties.”
“You guys want another round, or do you want to fact check something else?”
“I was just curious, Cheryl. Sometimes I wonder about Dan.”
“I only wonder about him when he stops at one beer.”
“Not today, Cheryl. Not today. David’s buying, so bring us another round.”

Good morning Dan, the weather sounds balmy over there! Photos again are glorious, the park with the flag looks beautifully manicured, you and Preston look very comfortable together! I hope you have a good weekend 💜

Our Public Works crew takes very good care of that park, Willow, especially the area around the monument. I don’t take very good selfies, and Preston wasn’t eager to be in the photo (I think he wanted to be fed), but this one seemed acceptable. I hope you have a good weekend, too.

I imagine bunny would enjoy those lovely lilac blooms. Perhaps you could install a rabbit ramp…?
😉
LikeLiked by 1 person
You laugh. The bunny uses the ramp we built off the front porch. He runs up, over the porch and hops down into the grass. He seems to enjoy it. The good news is that he enjoys eating the Quince!
LikeLiked by 1 person
He eats the quince? Now I’m even more upset we don’t have bunnies…
😩😩😩

I used to cut the bottom branches off the quince so I could get closer with the mower. Then I saw him standing on his hind legs to reach the branches higher up. Now we leave the bottom ones for him.

I had to smile at you watching Eldorado because I don’t have enough fingers to count the number of times I’ve watched that over the years. :-) The lunch looks delicious, but I must admit I’ve never eaten those three items together just because of volume. Isn’t it time for a shop update even if you’re still working on walls, doors or floors? :-) Happy Saturday, Dan.

I get their small burger, because I can’t choose between the two. I do think I need to get myself into that shop. I’ve been trying to work on a horrible outdoor project, but that’s on hold for a bit. I will update on something, sooner or later. I probably know that movie by heart, but I like watching it.

Old Glory reflected in the fire pit makes a great photo. And the bunny casing the joint for the best meal to be had is too funny!
Lilacs, butterfly and bee are wonderful.
But handsome Preston is the star today….watching a movie no less! You’re a good cat grandpa Dan. It’s clear Preston loves your visits….and vice versa!
Enjoy these balmy temperatures. Happy Mother’s Day to the Editor. May her special day be just that..special.

Thanks Ginger. It’s always good to spend some quality male bonding time with Preston. I was happy to see that he likes John Wayne.
The flag is back flying high.I hope it stays there for a good long time.
All the critters are enjoying the warm long days. We’re now being ordered to refill the birdbath every afternoon at 5:00 so Mr. Robin can take his bath. Seriously, he shows up every day to remind us.
Happy Mother’s Day all around, including to Mrs. Bunny, who may have just given birth.

Dan, your Mr. Robin’s cousin must be here, and bathing at a set time apparently is a family trait. But here it’s at 1pm, SHARP! Our Robin comes a bit before 1pm, sits on the edge of the birdbath and stares in our bedroom window all the while chattering. I think he’s saying “&)7#@%0/¥{€|>”! Somehow he knows I’m watching!
He walks around the rim until I go out. Then he flies on our fence and watches me empty, clean and refill apparently HIS birdbath! I barely get in the house when he’s taking a long, luxurious bath. Hmmm, the little bugger never leaves it as clean as he finds it. 🤗 It’s a treat having all these feathered friends make themselves at home in my garden.

I don’t know that movie, Dan, but thanks for sharing Edgar’s poem. It is a good one!
Enjoy the nice, warm weather you are having this weekend. It is cloudy and threatening rain here. It’s a good day to read blog posts, do laundry, maybe some housekeeping. This is the good thing about retirement – I no longer have to depend on nice weather over the weekend to go biking or enjoy the outdoors.
I’ve already commented on the photo itself, but love the photo of you and Preston. It gave me a Saturday morning chuckle. Is Preston commanding you to feed him?

He might be judging the timing of my arrival. I stay overnight, but I leave after rush hour traffic ad I go back before the afternoon rush. He has plenty of food before I leave, he gets more onmy way out, and I clean his litter box. But, you know cats and their capacity to judge.
Retirement is a good thing. I actually like not doing weekend things on weekends.

Dan, it’s lovely to see Preston again. LOL, he does look like he’s giving you the stink-eye through that window. Hugs to you both.

Thank you for the close-up of the full-bloom total-white lilac! My vocabulary is wanting when I try to respond to something so gorgeous — all I can say is WOW. Ditto the lilac with the Swallowtail — what a capture! The white rhododendron merits yet another WOW. I do have a thing for white in a garden. I was speechless also to see that lunch. Hamburger, fries, AND hot dog? Truly an all-American meal, but it requires a really serious appetite! David, Cheryl, and Preston do keep you on your toes, don’t they?
