Welcome to Thursday Doors! This is a weekly challenge for people who love doors and architecture to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos, drawings, or other images or stories from around the world. If you’d like to join us, simply create your own Thursday Doors post each (or any) week and then share a link to your post in the comments below, anytime between 12:01 am Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time). If you like, you can add our badge to your post.

Important Announcement #1: – The Writing Challenge deadline has been extended to run concurrent with this week’s door challenge. We will accept writing entries until noon on Saturday. We have over 40 already, and I think we will gather a few more by making it easier for people to finish (especially those with day jobs).

Important Announcement #2: There will be no official Thursday Doors on June 15th (and no recap on June 18th). Since some people participate without me, I will publish a placeholder post on the 15th, but I will not be able to comment and share posts as I normally do.Thursday Doors will return on June 22nd.

Back in April, I had the privilege of visiting Jennie’s (we all know Jennie) classroom a.k.a. The Aqua Room. The school is located in Groton, Massachusetts, a historic town originally settled and in 1655, Know my interest in doors, Jennie directed me to the section of town she knew had some historic and beautiful doors. I didn’t make it to one particular door she thought I’d like to see. I may have to visit Groton again. I also visited the Groton Post Office to see the installation of art work from Jennie’s students.

Today’s doors are from Jennie’s school and from a small area of the town where the First Parish Meeting house is located. I have more pictures from this beautiful little town, which I will share in the future. For today, I hope the captions will help give you the picture.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  1. I’m enjoying your exploration of architecture in small town US. It’s interesting to see how European folk-culture changed when it met the weather and materials available on a new continent, and developed into a distinctive style.

What a great reception you got and the hugest thank you card in existence. :) Great to see you smile with the kids. This town looks so serene and sunny and just joyful. I hope you return because the recommended door you must track down. I like all the houses and doors and Jennie, but most of all I love the frames of the art on the wall. It makes such a difference.

I’m starting a new door series today and will interchange it with the doors from the town of the bistro (which I started two weeks ago). On Sunday I visited two castles on an open-door day, and Bracciano Castle next to the lake with the same name was the second one. It’s proper! 1. Perhaps American is a better word. This is where it started, but it didn’t stop until it reached the other ocean. If I don’t drive during rush hour, it’s about an hour and forty-five minutes to the Aqua Room. In 1985, I spent six months commuting to Lowell, MA (about 25 minutes farther northeast than Groton) every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, for a consulting engagement. I think the next time I visit Groton, I’ll roll on up to Lowell as well.

          Liked by 1 person

          1. I’ve heard of Lowell. He-Man had a training class there for 6 weeks shortly after we started dating way back in 1979. I’ve never been the New England states. other than New York…not sure NYC counts as New England though. ‘
I bet that commute got old fast.

            Liked by 1 person

            1. That was a brutal commute. I put 20,000 miles on our car i 6 months. There’s a Lowell National Historical Park there that they were building at the time. It highlights the water-powered textile mills. I remember they had to bring retired masons here from Italy because no one knew how the stones were worked for the canals. The park didn’t open while I was there, and I’ve always wanted to go back up and visit.
