At one point, I thought I would skip this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. Then, I realized I had an important announcement to make, so I figured I/d write a short, satisfy-the-prompt-make-the-announcement post. Then Linda G. Hill offered bonus points. So, if you were hoping to get a break from me, sorry, but it’s Linda’s fault. Her prompt for today:

“Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is ‘sight/site.’ Use one, use them both, use them any way you’d like. Bonus points if you use them both. Have fun!”

If we were having a beer, Cheryl would be surprised.

“Wow, you guys are a sight for lonely eyes. I thought you said you weren’t coming today.”

“Hi Chery. Dan said he wasn’t coming, but I thought I’d swing by for one glass of John Howell’s Bourbon.”

“OK, Dan. Then why are you here?”

“I was driving by on my way back from Target and I saw David’s car in the lot. I thought I’d stop for one beer.”

“Well, whatever works. David, here’s your bourbon, seltzer, and ice. Dan, here’s your Modelo.”

“Thanks Cheryl. I was going to stop in at some point to make sure you’re working next Saturday.”

“Still tired of Skippy?”

“No, we’re going to have a guest next week.”

“Cool, who’s coming?”

“Carol J. Parsons.”

“Carol J. Parsons, the author?”

“Wait, wait, I don’t know anyone named Carol J. Parsons. Now, Cheryl, from your question, it sounds like there’re more than one.”

“David, there’s only one—that I know of—and she is an author. I just added that for emphasis.”

“Oh. OK. What does she write, Dan?”

“Science Fiction, Westerns, Romance, Fantasy, and some other stuff—all with Cristian values running through. She covers a lot of ground, and she does it all very well.”

“This sounds like a Saturday I don’t want to miss, Dan, but I have a few questions.”

“David, the drinks are on me. Other than that, save your questions for next week.”

“I figured, since you’re letting us know today, you might want some help preparing for Carol’s visit.”

“No, I’m good. I didn’t want Cheryl to miss meeting Carol.”

“I’ll be here, Dan. I’m sticking Skippy with the following weekend.”

“You expect that to be the fourth of July crunch?”

“Yeah. The fourth is on Tuesday. I figure a lot of people will have a four-day weekend.”

“OK. If you won’t answer any more questions, can you tell me where I can find more about Carol on the web?”

“I’ll give you two sites—her website—and her Amazon Author page, but I’ll have more to share next week.”

“Anything to share from the past week, Dan?”

“Faith and I hiked a portion of the Windsor Locks Canal on Sunday.”

“Can I assume that you have some pictures to share?”

“I do. Let’s take a look.”

Today’s gallery is a little larger than usual, but I couldn’t cut any farther. Also, if the title inspired a memory, that song is below the gallery. Also, tomorrow is Father’s Day in a number of countries so Happy Father’s Day to fathers everywhere. I’ve tacked on a special flag at the end.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  2. Hi Dan, looking forward to meeting Carol next week.
Great photos, lovely one of your father’s grave, I take it your mum is still with you as there’s no second date on the headstone.
That Bobcat looks huge are they dangerous? I would be scared if I caught sight of that!
    Have a good week 💜

    1. Mom has joined dad, but the people that had agreed to carve the date hadn’t done it a year after her death. It has finally been carved, but the flag wasn’t there the last time I visited the grave. The bobcats are dangerous. I think it’s case of if you don’t bother them, they won’t bother you. Fortunately this guy was on the other side of the canal so we didn’t have to test that theory. I hope you have a nice weekend.

      1. I am glad the job is now completed, it’s only right .
I would definitely give the Bobcat a wide birth and I definitely would not try out the theory 😉

  4. Wrong song. “These eyes” set off “these boots” in my head. Thanks for taking us with you and Faith — that looks like a great walk! Flowers, waterways, birds, and, of course, the ever-awesome trestle! Happy Fathers’ Day to you — and a salute to your dad too!

    1. Well, we were walking, Maureen, but that wasn’t my intention. We had a very nice walk. The canal is a special place and we always enjoy going there.

  5. Beautiful photos. And wow, I’m impressed you caught a bobcat. They’re pretty elusive here.
Nice to know bunny is safe in your yard.

    1. The bunny is happy that we are a few miles from that point on the canal. That bobcat looked healthy, so I guess the river/canal banks are good hunting grounds.

    1. Thanks GP. Mom joined him about 5 years ago, but they were very (years) late in carving the date. I have other pictures, but I wanted one with the flag for him.

  9. A bobcat–I thought he looked quite a bit bigger than White Paws!
“Honey, do you know where Junior went?” made me laugh. Did Junior eat that entire fish dinner by himself?
    Happy Father’s Day to you!

    1. You know how teenage boys are :-)

White Paws is just a mini-bobcat. Our first car, Oreo, used to sit on an ottoman and watch “Wild Cats of the Serengeti” as if that was grandma and grandpa.

Great gallery Dan. That Bobcat is magnificent but I wouldn’t try to get up close and personal! LOVE the reflection. Wild flowers are beautiful. The canal is quite a beauty in and of itself. So glad you and Faith could share this walk.

Happy Fathers Day Dan. And good wishes to all the dads on their special day tomorrow.

    1. Thanks Ginger! I was happy to be on the other side of the canal from the bobcat. He didn’t seem to mind us. After he stepped of the bridge, he disappeared into the brush silently. The canal is such a beautiful place to walk.
