I am nearly at the end of an easy week. i’ve been skipping some blogging activity, but I thought I’d try to find some photos that might fit the prompt for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge. She suggested:

This week our topic is Half of Any One Item. Through this entire series, creative cropping could be a fun choice. Be creative and have fun with this challenge.

I will be slow to respond to comments, but I hope you enjoy the photos I found. I didn’t have time to do any cropping–hence the title–but I came close.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  3. Ditto the above: that sandwich made my morning cereal look pretty puny. Your tools are mind-boggling, but your captions for Mimi made me laugh. I know now to swallow coffee first. Nice halves!

Good choice of photos Dan. I swear that chunk of wood looks like a slab of roast beef! Love the half of a sour pickle. MiMi and Maddie when they were inspecting your ladders, each from a different position.

And Old Glory, sad but proud!

Hope this turns out to be a great week for you.

    1. Thanks Ginger. MiMi wanted to play, Maddie wanted me to be done so she could sit. Things don’t always have the purpose we think they do.

  8. That was terrific, Dan. And here I’ve always wondered why people take pictures of their food – it worked here!

  16. Oh wow – how Pittsburgh is that – Eat N Park! Thanks for the walk down memory lane, hope you’ve been enjoying your week. So back to Eat N Park… I worked at one one summer when I was 19, not at outside car hop server, an inside waitress. I got the employee of the month award – one of their famous Strawberry pies that was pure sugar topped with more sugar. Nightmare shifts were Fridays after the football games in our suburb, when literal busloads arrived all at once. For years afterwards I had recurring nightmares that I was alone working the entire restaurant on a Friday night and 3 busloads pulled in. All wanting separate checks, all wanting doggie bags with their leftover fries. Oy. But man, those Big Boy hamburgers were so good. And they had those cute activity and coloring books for kids – ages before the Happy Meal was a gleam in anyone’s eye. Thanks for the fond memories, Dan!

    1. Wow! Thanks for sharing that. I’m glad you liked that photo. I remember going to Eat’N Park after football games. I never asked for a doggy bag, though (I could eat like a pig back then and never gain an ounce). I still love that burger, those fries and that pie.

      1. You never asked for a doggy bag? That so rarely happened after football games in my suburb I would have remembered someone leaving without their fries. 🍟

        1. I ate them all. I was 6′ 2″ tall, 125 pounds. I simply could not gain weight, no matter what I ate.

          1. Oh to have that problem now at this age, right? I wonder if my Eat N Park is still there? It would have been in Whitehall, though out High School was Baldwin.

            Like

            1. Yeah, that problem went away in my 30s. According to the Eat’N Park app, Whitehall still has one – 5100 Clairton Blvd.

            2. Yeah, even I was a skinny minnie back then… And aha – I bet that’s the same Eat N Park, how cool. Thanks! Eat N Park has an app?? Mind blown. Thanks again. Now I’m hankering for a burger. 🍔

            3. My daughter and I both have the app. It will find the closest location and give you directions. We drive down once a year, so it comes in handy.

  17. Maddie had such an expressive body! It could have been exactly what she was probably thinking. I love to see natural wood. What are you going to make with it?

    1. Those were older photos. I made a set of bookends from those two pieces, for my boss as a Christmas gift. Maddie and MiMi/MuMu always telegraphed their emotions very well.

  18. So the food from your books is real! What an amazing Ruben sandwich. I gained weight drooling over the photo. LOL!

    1. Thanks Colleen. I changed the name of most venues, but Eat’n Park is such a hometown institution that I included it like PNC Park and the other well-know places. Sorry if the sandwich made you hungry.

Your halves are so fun and wonderful for the week. Thanks Dan for joining along :D

    1. Thanks Cee. I thought more of these were closer to halves. They appear that way in the media library which, apparently is not showing the full width of the photo. The flag at half staff almost always makes me sad.

  20. Love the flag at half mast. Wow, that one was stirring!

And loved MiMi on the ladder. One of my previous cats (McDoogal) used to climb ladders. Of the four I’ve had, he’s the only one who ever did that. :)

    1. The flag is a sad photo. MiMi climbed anything she could. Her sister would sit below and just watch. It was like she was saying, “what is that girl doing?”

  21. An interesting challenge, Dan. Loved seeing the animals. Daphne tried to run off with my glasses. She loves to hide things. Since I wouldn’t be able to see enough to find them, it’s a good thing that I caught her. LOL. Hugs.

    1. Thanks Hilary. Seeing Maddie’s pictures does make me sad, but it reminds me that we gave her many happy years. She had so many problems, that most people couldn’t/wouldn’t have been able to care for her.

By the way, did you know that some of your captions are so long they are cut off? We are left hanging!

    1. If you’re in the gallery, you have to click on the lower case i in the circle. That will show the full caption. You only have to do it once per blog. I reported that to WordPress, they said “write shorter captions” 🙁

      1. Ah. Another had that issue but the i didn’t work. I didn’t even bother trying! Still… that’s anoying that they can’t just show it in the first place. Bleeping WP
