I recently learned that “If you build it, they will come” was never actually said. The proper quote is “If you build it, he will come.” Good to know. Anyway, this isn’t a post about baseball, especially the way the Pittsburgh Pirates have been playing. This is a post about bunnies.

Since I gave you guys a lot to read over the weekend, I’ll spare you the backstory. This one-liner has been inspired by two groups of photos I was able to snag this weekend. They are all in the slideshow below. The first three are in our front yard, near where I recently transplanted a Quince bush. The second group is near the steps to our back porch.

“Some-bunny loves living here!”

This post is part of Linda G. Hill’s fun weekly series One-Liner Wednesday. If you have a one-liner, and would like to join in on the fun, you can follow this link to participate and to see the one-liners from the other participants.

Don’t forget, tomorrow is Thursday and that means Thursday Doors. The URL for my post is listed in the sidebar under our beautiful badge. You can link up at any time. My post goes live at one minute after midnight in the eastern timezone. I hope to see your doors.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

    1. It does look like a skull. The cactus bloom every year. Every winter, it looks like it’s dead.

Dan, that skull-like tree nut is seriously creepy looking!

That is a very industrious bunny intent on gaining entrance to its new home. It’s relative here are on the same page!

Awwww, that beautiful Calico cat doesn’t look grumpy, just really in need of a nap!

Love seeing your neighbor’s cactus rose again. Just gorgeous.

Old Glory looking proud and smart on display in the firemen’s parade.

Some reprieve from rain today and tomorrow, then we’re due to get slammed again! Sheeesh!

    1. Sorry about the creepy image, Ginger. I saw that on the ground and had to do a double take.

Tired or grumpy, that cat just wanted people to stop walking by. The sirens from the parade had probably kept her awake too long.

The bunnies are making themselves at home here. In general, they don’t do too much damage. They can prune the quince all they want. It’s less I have to do.

I’m out and about today, I hope the rain holds off. More great flags coming tomorrow. Stay dry.

  5. That bunny found what looks like a cool shrub to sleep under.

    1. She certainly has. She dug out a nice space to lay in, and she’s gotten used to us walking by to get water for the bird baths. I think she’s here for good.

  6. Now that’s what I call a 24 carrot post! The fact that bunnies will eat quince bushes makes me miss them even more.
    So cute…

    1. That quince is an offshoot from one of the bigger ones. I’m not sure it’s going to make it, and the bunny isn’t helping, but we’ll wait and see. I figured you’d like this post.

  12. Your Bunny and our Squirrels are sure doing a lot of digging where they shouldn’t be!
That cactus flowering plant was lovely…so many blooms!

The Nut-Skull was kind a fun and creepy. Your image would be a good one for Dia de los Muertos, and Halloween. Fun find!

    1. I almost picked up the nut-skull, but I really didn’t want it. At least the bunny dug away from the places we normally step off those steps. I’d hate to be explaining that broken ankle.

That cactus lets a little bigger every year. It’s so pretty when it blooms. It could use a little weeding, but I wouldn’t want to get that close.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. re: the cactus…maybe the lack of weeding has helped it grow more blooms. I wouldn’t want to get into it either. 😂

        1. As far as I know, she doesn’t do anything to it. By December, it looks like flat rubber. It does not seem to like the cold.

          Liked by 1 person

          1. Being a cactus I wouldn’t think it would like the cold either. 😀 It’s great that it comes back with wonderful flowers each year.

That grumpy cat is so cute! He probably wanted someone to sit and talk with him…😺

      Rabbits are definitely diggers.

  14. Great bunny pics and story. That quince looks from hunger. I hope it makes it. If I were a bunny, I would certainly build a nest under the porch too. Great neighbors and lots of food at your place.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. The quince was an offshoot of one of the larger ones. I’m not sure it will make it, but we were successful with a previous one. This would balance that one, and it would be the last we’d try to encourage. They spread on their own, but never where we want them. I think the bunny got word that this is a good neighborhood.

  16. The Pirates aren’t doing that badly. Granted, not great, but still, 4th place, 1.5 games back of the Cubs, 5 games out of first… there were years that I wished the White Sox were doing that well…

    1. They are having one of their better years, John. Lots of young players, so they’re inconsistent. I’d be happy with a winning season. You know, not setting my hopes too high.

Love your photos, Dan, especially the one of the bunny. Also, your quote explanation is perfect. I had always thought “they” and not “he”. I learn something every day. 🌞

    1. I’m glad you liked this, Gwen. We like having the bunnies around, even if they occasionally nibble something good. They can have all the quince they want 😏

I was surprised by the correct quote.

        1. It’s funny. That cat wandered into that house, and the woman took her in. She left a house (of a different neighbor) after the couple got divorced. I guess she didn’t like the new arrangements. The woman in this house notified the other people, but no one ever came to get the cat.

  29. “Every bunny loves some bunny sometime…” 😁 Sorry, I’m a natural-born punster. Cute pics! And that’s interesting how everyone gets the Field of Dreams quote wrong. As someone whose Twitter job is to quote a famous cultural touchstone, I’m used to checking the exact wording of certain phrases, and I often find that our memories aren’t as accurate as we think.

    1. I think there’s a word to describe making those common mistakes. My brother told me that when I was visiting him in Iowa a couple weeks ago. Serling is often misquoted, you have your hands full.
