For over 30 years, I, or someone in my former department, spent uncounted hours setting up new PCs, printers, networks, phones, and other devices. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, people were excited to get their first PC or a new one. Throughout the early to mid-90s, people became accustomed to us adding memory or swapping an anemic hard drive for a slightly less anemic hard drive. Then Windows arrived, and people became less and less happy every time we arrived to apply an upgrade.
My favorite Windows laptop has become too old, frail, slow and stuffed to continue to be reliably of use to me. Several programs that I depend on refuse to allow me to install the latest version. Several times this year, I’ve had to move files in order to make room for one program or another to run. Of course, the photos I keep adding to the hard drive aren’t helping.
The thing is, I’ve had a newer, better, more capable laptop sitting here for years, but I’ve been putting off making the transition. Last Friday was the last straw – PhotoShop decided it wasn’t running on this old laptop ever again. So, I’m in transition. And, just like my former coworkers, I’m not happy about it. I’m backing up files, moving stuff to cloud storage, reinstalling programs, and copying configurations from one laptop to another. Now I understand why they used to complain”
“Why can’t I keep the computer I like?”

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.
