Last Friday, I had the pleasure of meeting an online friend with whom I’ve been connected to for more years (perhaps more blogs) than I can remember. We decided to meet for an early lunch. After we finished eating, around 12:30, the waitress took the check, cleared the table and told us we could stay as long as we liked.

At 3:10, a different waitress came over,

Then she told us that Happy Hour was starting in the bar in twenty minutes.

We left a little before 4:00.

This post is part of Linda G. Hill’s fun weekly series One-Liner Wednesday. If you have a one-liner, and would like to join in on the fun, you can follow this link to participate and to see the one-liners from the other participants.

Don’t forget, tomorrow is Thursday and that means Thursday Doors. The URL for my post is listed in the sidebar under our beautiful badge. You can link up at any time. My post goes live at one minute after midnight in the eastern timezone. I hope to see your doors.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  1. How lovely to connect with someone you’ve known only online.

    1. It is a great feeling. I’ve met a few people in person that I met first online, and it’s always delightful. It was fun to spend hours talking.

    1. It was, Judy. It’s one of my favorite restaurants, and they were very nice to let us hang out. IT was great to catch up in person after many years.

  3. Judging by the photo of the ‘roon in the grass, I’d say that photography keeps you nimble! The lunch sounded like one of those great moments in life where good talk happens.

    1. That’s exactly what it was, Maureen – good talk. As for being nimble, we need taller mushrooms.

  5. I once met an old friend for lunch at 11:00am. We left at 5:30pm. But we made sure to leave a big tip.
Lovely bunny shots. They must be used to the camera by now..

  6. The second waitress deserved a big tip for that one-liner! Sounds like you had a wonderful lunch and conversation. How nice that you two could meet and enjoy each other’s company in person.

Smokey and Sammy are just too cute. They have the “peanut begging routine” down pat, don’t they? Who could resist?

I love the shots of the ornamental grass. And of course I love seeing Old Glory shining brightly against those dark trees!

Happy Hump Day Dan. Another beautiful day here in the neighborhood!

    1. Thanks Ginger. We had a great time. The hours just rolled past.

Sammy and Smokey are both getting into the “Sit on the mailbox so they can see you better” act. This morning, they were out there at 6:15.

The sun has been highlighting the memorial garden and the flag all week. I love it when the flag catches the sun.

I hope the rest of your week is a good one.

  9. Sounds like a great place to eat when they tell you to stay as long as you like. Glad you had a fun meet-up.
Those little squirrels are so cute. Ours here are not quite that trusting, so I just watch them from the window.
Dan, the mushroom with all the raindrops on the grass is a beauty of a photo.

    1. Thanks Lois. My best friend took me to this place when I first moved to Hartford. I’ve taken several friends there when they were visiting. It’s a wonderful tavern.

  15. “Do I need to bring you dinner menus?” Passive-aggressive much? I used to have long lunches like that with my late friend, Jane. They’re wonderful, aren’t they?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Her comment was more humorous, and led to a short conversation where we explained how far my friend had come, and the fact that of all the choices available, I suggested this tavern. It was a wonderful time.

    1. Over the course of the summer, we seem to have lost a few squirrels, GP. But the ones that remain are making up for it on the begging line ;-)

  25. I love meeting virtual friends in real life. It’s amazing how we can really get to know people online. I don’t think I’ve ever been surprised by someone’s IRL personality vs. how they seemed on their blog.

  28. That sounds fun. Friendships on WordPress at times feel more real than friendships in the real world. More so because on WordPress people who read your blog are actually listening to you and when the connection is over a long time, then they truly get to know you.

Lovely pics of critters and the sun streaming in.

Will see if I have any more doors left from Norway🙂 and link up tomorrow.

  29. Hi Dan, that is an interesting one liner. I suppose ‘stay as long as you want’ means until happy hour.
