If you’re in the U.S. or Canada, I hope you’re enjoying the last 3-day weekend of summer. Despite being surrounded by pumpkin spice everything, it still is summer, and, to prove it, it’s going to be 92°f (33°c) today.

Cee has asked us to follow Nike’s lead and show pictures that pay homage to “Just do it” – Let’s see what we can find.

  1. How exciting! I get to read tomorrow’s post today! 😉. Of course Maddie for the win today but I enjoyed your other choices too. Happy Labor Day, Dan.

        1. Yes (it starts tomorrow and runs all week. I’m always showing up at the end). Cee publishes them well ahead of time. This one is “AllState – You’re in good hands”

      2. Happy Labor Day, Dan! Nice photos! We are at day 2 of what will be three days of 90+ weather. Rain on Wednesday, high of 66F on Thursday. What a roller coaster of a week! Staying mostly inside, but I suppose it’s a good time to finish house cleaning and my latest book.

        1. We are in the 90s today through Wednesday. I spent 3 hours in the shop which was 30 minutes too many.

          1. Yikes! I think you need to wait for cooler weather before resuming work on the bench.

            1. The shop stays cool enough until about 2:00. By 2:30, I have to get out.

        1. It is, but it’s a little disconcerting as several states have relaxed child labor laws this year. I wonder if we truly never learn anything from history.

  5. “Just do it” is a great slogan, but I can “do” without pumpkin spice. :-) Superb photos fitting the theme, Dan!

Happy Labor Day! Or, more realistically for the United States, Happy Management Day. :-(

    1. Haha – good one, Dave. I think the pumpkin spice even beat Sam Adams Octoberfest to the market this year. It’s getting crazy.

  6. I really loved this little catch up on things that happened. Great baseball pitch photo but I’m tossing up a favourite between the surfer (cos Australian) and the banjo (cos I love a banjo).

    1. That surfer slammed to the ground, but ran up to me and asked if I had gotten a good picture of him. I told him I had, and where I would post it. I had never heard Christmas carols played onm a banjo before, but this guy was pretty good.

  7. I don’t know, that flight looks full size. :-) I hope it was delicious, and I know the company was lovely.

    1. It was a generous pour ;-) We had hiked for a while before arriving at the brewery, so I think we earned them. That’s my story.

  10. Happy Labor Day! Great selection. Too bad you didn’t get the face plant!

    1. I got one that was a little closer, but it was a boring picture, the wave action was gone. He came up and asked me if I could post them where he could get them – which I did.

  11. Lol! The surfer looks like he sees the “face plant” coming! Ouch!

I remember that photo of Maddie inspecting the playground equipment and how she loved the snow and climbing on Mt. Maddie! Good memories for all of us, but still a heart tug.

Good to see the “kissing couple” are still kissing!

Dan, if I drank four of those glasses of beer, my brain would go on a flight all by itself! 🤗

The last photo of the snowblower “just doing it” reminds me of what’s down the road. Ugh!

I’m doing as little labor as possible today. Hope you and the Editor and Faith are too!

Great selection of photos depicting JUST DO IT.

    1. I’m glad you liked these, Ginger. Maddie was the queen of just do it, even when ‘it’ was sitting in the shade. She always managed to get her way.

The surfer knew what was coming but rode it to the end. He asked me to post the photos so he could find them.

The snowblower will be going in for its annual tuneup pretty soon. If it snows as much as it rained this summer, it’s going to get a good workout.

I don’t think we’re doing much in the way of labor today. I might step into the shop for a while, but not if it hits 90 degrees too soon.

I’ll have a beer later, but probably not that much. I hope you have a great day and an easy week ahead.

  12. Maddie looked like she could blend in with the ride and be one of the horses with her blanket. And yes you caught the angle of those flights like you could drink everyone under the table. Happy Labor Day weekend Dan.

    1. Thanks John. Maddie had to check out everything. She started sniffing over there as soon as the dug the foundation for that ride. The flight was very good (I did have a second, so they weren’t that big). Happy Labor Day. Hopefully you can let the garden fairies labor today and enjoy a cider.

      1. It has been a granddaughter weekend so other than the computer no garden work. Maybe tomorrow. It is moving time in the garden. Taking out old plants getting ready for the new plants flagged in the seedling beds. And working around plants with seed pods. Always dangerous to the pod trying to move the plant…

  26. Hard to believe in a few months that snowblower and snowshovels will be back in the picture. We also had a steamy weekend and have severe weather today. I was not sure I wanted to risk a walk this morning as the weather forecasters were all over the map for this severe storm’s arrival. I needed to catch up here in Reader anyway. I liked your caption for the Starlings at the birdbath – the birds have appreciated water for drinking or bathing more than ever this Summer. It’s amazing just how many pics I took the last few years where a flag was at half staff for a dignitary’s passing or a mass shooting.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I was getting tired of seeing the flag at half staff. In honor of someone is one thing, but the shootings were driving me crazy. The birds and all the other critters have all made good use of the birdbaths. These past few days, we’ve been back to having to fill them several times. I walked early today, but it was already hot and sticky. Take care.

      1. I write a quick draft of each weekend walk as I may not remember the details when I pair the photos up to the narrative many months later. I sure would not remember the occasion for the many flag lowering instances otherwise. I agree – just dignitaries is best. We have pouring rain now so I’m glad I stayed home – it will provide some puddles in the street for our squirrels and birds who can’t otherwise get a drink. They’re ready for Fall like many of us are. Thank you.

    1. Thanks Paul. That’s a local CT brewery (Powder River) and their beer is pretty good. Covid almost did them in, because they sell most of their beer in kegs to bars around the area (which were closed). They stayed in business by bottling and selling hand sanitizer.
