I’ve tried to be a little better about building some hype around my latest novel. Yes, “latest” as in it’s now available on Amazon! Anyway, I’ve mentioned before that although this book is part of the Dreamer’s Alliance Series, it’s also a bit of a stand-alone story. Of course, I think it would be better if you read all four books in the series, or as Marian Allen said:

“Looking forward to reading the fourth book of the trilogy!”

Isn’t that the best one-liner?

Cover of the 4th and final novel in the Dreamer’s Alliance Series

I’m going to take an arrow from the quiver of every politician who ever misspoke and every project manager who ever delivered something different than originally planned―I’m going to spin this. My official story is that Kuckleheads is the backstory to a trilogy. But, I digress. Who is Rascal Todd?

Rachael “Rascal” Todd is a recent graduate of the University of Georgia School of Journalism. She has joined the news staff a small not-so-struggling newspaper in Pittsburgh (where else?) and one of her assignments causes her to start digging in the vicinity of Grayson Dyer’s grave. Billy knows this will “spill into Zach’s soup,” as he puts it, but Zach, Billy, Abbie and Uncle Mike all realize that this isn’t their timeline anymore. They need to let this play out.

The book has some aspects of a thriller, and some aspects of a mystery. It’s got the family snark readers of the series have become accustomed to, and it has several new characters (as well as a couple who thought they had more to say). There’s a religious undertone, but if you’ve read the other books, you know that has always been there and it’s not overbearing.

This post is part of Linda G. Hill’s fun weekly series One-Liner Wednesday. If you have a one-liner, and would like to join in on the fun, you can follow this link to participate and to see the one-liners from the other participants.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  5. Marian said it exactly! I add my congratulations here, and I look forward to finding out more about what’s under that cover! There’s a whole lot of perseverance in four books. As for your photos this morning, I really loved the ones with the river, especially the one with the sea monster — what a great combination of trees and buildings and reflections!

    1. Thanks Maureen. Stopping at the park is the thing I miss most about going to work. Not so much that I’d like to go back, but I swing by whenever I’m in the area. The sun is rising later, and that was always a good time for photos. As for what’s under that cover, it’s more than I ever expected would be. I hope you enjoy it.

  6. Congratulations on the launch of your latest novel Dan. And yes, that’s a great one-liner!

I wonder how long your favorite little girl practiced perfecting that pose and expression! How could you not love her.

The new sea monster is great, but it’s the reflection of the sun over the water that catches my eye.

I agree, Maddie is not happy that you’re still using her deck for your trash bags. Shame on you! 🤗

You captured a great shot of Memorial Park with Old Glory proudly struttin’ her stuff!

    1. Thanks Ginger! Marian is always quick with a quip.

I think she practices in front of the storm door. She has that pose down perfectly. She met me in the driveway this morning as I was starting my walk. She stood (I snapped a photo for Saturday) and I think she knows just how adorable she is.

I was so happy to have the sun still on the rise when I got to the park. I miss seeing that every morning (but I don’t miss driving to work).

I can almost feel Maddie’s glare as Murphy says: “That guy put a bag of crap on your porch again.”

It looked like the flag was happy to be back at the top of the pole.

I hope you’re having a nice easy week, and I hope it only gets better.

  10. Congratulations on your new release!! As for the photos, I can’t resist the supplicant squirrel. It looks as though she has a notch in her ear?

    1. Thanks Liz. That squirrel showed up one night in a bad way. She was bleeding (a little) and looked like she had tangled with something. She was having a tough time opening the peanuts we gave her (se gave her a few shelled walnuts). We weren’t sure she was going to be there in the morning, but she bounced back and is begging as good as ever.

  11. I’m behind, Dan, and try as I may, every time I finish a library book, there’s always another right behind it that I’m dying to read. The new story does sound compelling, however, so I promise, when I’m done with Stephen King’s FairyTale I will read your books I think I’ve only read the first one.

    1. Thanks Janet. Rascal Todd is going to solve a mystery, or two or three. I’m thinking it would be a periodic series, but not one that should be read in order. I have some other ideas. Right now, I have to get this place ready for winter.
