Yesterday, Sally Cronin featured The Evil You Choose, my second novel, in her Christmas Book Fair post. In addition to her generosity, I was moved by the many comments posted which expressed complements for my book and the books of the two authors that were also mentioned in Sally’s post.

Tomorrow we celebrate Thanksgiving here in the U.S. – a day to express our gratitude for the blessings in our lives. Well, one of the blessings in my life is this community. Since I will be providing a place for Thursday Doors posts tomorrow, I’ll express my gratitude here today.

This post is part of Linda G. Hill’s fun weekly series One-Liner Wednesday. If you have a one-liner, and would like to join in on the fun, you can follow this link to participate and to see the one-liners from the other participants.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  1. How creative this post is, Dan! I love the giraffe. I have been busy homeschooling my granddaughter because the school district is on strike the third week. I hope the union and the district try hard to negotiate so the teachers go back to work after Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

    1. I hope they settle that strike, Miriam, but I’m certain your granddaughter is getting a good education. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

      1. Yes, in addition to the original negotiation, they have to agree on how to make up the 11 missing school days. What a mess!

  4. Heckle and Jeckle! Now there’s a twosome I haven’t thought of in a long time! I think if you ever taught a creative writing course you should use leaves as prompts! “Ready for winter” is the hope for us all. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Dan!

    1. Thanks Maureen. I like to think I’m ready for winter, but winter delights in proving me wrong, so I try not to be cocky. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

    2. PS, Heckle and Jeckle were favorite cartoons, and among those that I’m not sure we understood well as children ;-)

      1. I continue to mourn the opportunities lost because of my piano lessons — I missed a lot of cartoon education!

          1. I loved playing the piano! I loathed my lessons and I’m still mad that I had to miss Saturday morning cartoons — and just when television was new and no one had ever heard of Saturday morning cartoons! If you can imagine such a world.

            1. A world without cartoons? That’s scary I watched most of my cartoons on a black and white TV.

I’m thankful that you blog, I found you, and you accepted me into your family with arms wide open. You introduced me to Pam and I connected with others who followed you, and now I have the most wonderful group of friends anyone could hope for!

When I scroll through your gallery now, I stop short of your description of a leaf until I decide what it looks like, then I check to see what you think it looks like. We’re usually 100% in agreement. Jeckle without Heckle? That’s just wrong!

The shadowless leaf is a beauty.

Old Glory….may she always remain our one flag for every citizen flying over a free country.

Wishing you and the Editor and Faith a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you all remember to save room for dessert! Ginger

    1. Jeckle without Heckle is wrong, Ginger, but I didn’t want to start augmenting these images, lest I get out of control.

I’m sure Pam would agree, that having you read and comment on our blogs is one of the best things that ever happened. You add so much to this community.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, too. I will not forget dessert.

  16. Dan, even though I’ve been “hit and miss” with writing this past year, I am extremely grateful for this community and to you for connecting with me in the first place. I am grateful for friends and family and furry kids and biking in the summer. So many blessing to count!

Nice photos…and LOL to John’s comment. I love “leaf whisperer,” but I think you whisper to the squirrels and bunnies far more often. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

PS: Gibbs thinks there will be bird in this house tomorrow, but I will have to let him down gently. It’s just me and the neighbor and whatever we have in the fridge. :-)

    1. Thanks Lois. The leaves fill in when there are no clouds. The bright sun casts these shadows and my mind wanders as I walk. We had a heavy cold rain overnight and through most of the morning. Smokey and his buddies showed up as the rain was ending. We can’t say no. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
