Welcome to Thursday Doors! This is a weekly challenge for people who love doors and architecture to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos, drawings, or other images or stories from around the world. If you’d like to join us, simply create your own Thursday Doors post each (or any) week and then share a link to your post in the comments below, anytime between 12:01 am Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time). If you like, you can add our badge to your post.

Today we celebrate Thanksgiving in the United States. Since we normally gather doors from many other countries, so I didn’t want to suspend this challenge. However, there are two consequences to deal with:

One: I will check out comments early in the day, but then I’ll likely disappear. I will return tomorrow, and might still be catching up on Saturday, but I’ll visit all the posts that link to this post.

Two: I have assembled doors from previous Thanksgiving Day posts. Also, the photos aren’t all of doors, but I think they’re all appropriate. Since this holiday is celebrated on the 4th Thursday, it always coincides with Thursday Doors.

If you’re in the U.S., I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving. I invite all of you to visit the doors which are linked in the comments, and I remind everyone that this challenge runs through noon on Saturday. If you can’t stay today, I encourage you to visit on Sunday when all the doors will be in the weekly recap table.

I also want to thank the people who participate in this challenge. Without your photos, your travel, your research and your willingness to share all of that, there would be no Thursday Doors – Thank You!

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  9. How did you know? You started with two of my favorites: red doors and door wreaths! These doors are all wonderful, and beautifully suited to the day. No sooner did I see your title than the hymn started up in my head, where it is now stuck. To add the very music made it stuck deeper. It’s a great thing to hear a congregation belt that out, isn’t it? Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Dan — and thanks for all the doors!

    1. The church we attended when our daughter was little had a short service on Thanksgiving where people could bring their bread for the day to be blessed. We always sang this hymn. People brought everything from homemade bread, to bagged rolls, to Pillsbury Crescent Rolls – still in the tube. I’ve always loved this hymn. And red doors, yep, I can’t pass by. Happy Thanksgiving, Maureen.

These churches are magnificent! The doors, wreaths, stonework, and windows are all beauties. The first church, the brick church with the weathered door, Asylum Hill Church, and St. John’s Episcopal really stand out from the crowd.

Apparently the little beggars don’t take the holiday off. Maybe he’s visiting from England! 🤗

The dog and cat all dressed up take the cake though. Hysterical!

Sending my fondest Thanksgiving wishes to you and the Editor and Faith. Enjoy a wonderful celebration, enjoy each other, and try not to overeat! My last wish is that when you wake up from your after-dinner snooze, all those calories will have magically disappeared! Ginger

    1. Thanks Ginger. I can’t promise not to overeat (I’ve already started, and Faith isn’t here yet).

I was forced to pony up a toll before leaving for my walk, and again as I returned. Plus, the squirrel in the park that lives in that knothole came out to “wish me a Happy Thanksgiving.”

I’m glad yo liked these doors. I had forgotten about the dog and cat, but I had to share.

I hope you have a wonderful day. I would encourage you to over eat, especially if you haven’t had dessert.
