“Why isn’t there a rhyming phrase that means the opposite of easy-peasy?”
That’s it, that’s my entry for Linda G. Hill’s One Liner Wednesday. It you’re interested in what’s going on, continue reading. If not, skip to whatever gallery I was able to work with.

For the past month or so, I’ve been having a problem scheduling or updating posts. I’ve tried all the recommended solutions, to no avail, except to change my theme. So, I did that. I changed to one of the Full Site Editor themes that allegedly lets you add/subtract/tweak every element on your site. I promised to report, and here I am with an in-progress update. I’ll make it simple
I chose the theme Tenku – I thought I liked what the home page looked like, and I was informed in several emails with Happiness Engineers that I could change the things I wanted to change.
In my preview of Tenku, there was no sidebar. I asked about that, and the HE confirmed there was no sidebar but told me I could add one. He pointed me to a few tutorials that explained doing just that—adding a sidebar to your site.
I watched the video. I read and printed the tutorial. I made notes on the printed copy of all my current settings.
I activated the Tenku theme, and guess what? It includes a sidebar. I later discovered that that’s almost worse, because I have to change their idea of a sidebar as opposed to building mine.
Tenku uses the “Featured Image” in several places. One is on the main page, for both the most current blog post and the previous posts — I like that. It also uses them in the sidebar where I list previous posts — I don’t like that because they take too much room. I don’t normally set a featured image — the old theme defaulted to the first image on the page. This one doesn’t.
The galleries I’ve used in the past (and perhaps today) don’t spread out as far as the other content. That’s because I edited the width of the other content in the template. WordPress and lots of graphic gurus like an inordinate amount of whitespace I like enough whitespace to make the page easy to read, but not so much as to force you to scroll forever. Perhaps If Sergio Aragones was still alive, I could persuade him to add marginal drawings like he did for MAD Magazine. Short of that, I’d like to close the gap.

Here’s the thing: I was able to close the gap on the body and the comments, but since the gallery isn’t part of the template, I can’t change it unless (hopefully this worked) I change it for each and every post. Since your theme applies to all blog posts, I can’t fix it for posts prior to this one. Sorry. I suppose I can add a gallery to the template, but I need to verify that I can delete it on posts where I don’t want it, but I don’t know what that would do to older posts.
My constantly in-your-face bit of marketing. Also doesn’t seem to fit. It has been squished by the new theme and the text popped out at the top and bottom. That is a Reusable Block — which I love. It means that whenever I add a book, it gets added everywhere. So, either I fix it so it doesn’t squish or I make a new one that I can add to the template. If I can add it to the template, I can resize it. I have to recreate it, rename it, and add it to the template, and delete the old one, or all prior posts will have it appear twice. Update (noon Wednesday): I think I was able to fix this!
The custom CSS I use was not brought into the new theme. I think I can add that.
So, in summary, the theme upgrade is not complete, has not been easy, and the helpful information offered by the Happiness Engineers hasn’t always been accurate. I will be attempting to fix these issues before Saturday.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.
