Welcome to Thursday Doors! This is a weekly challenge for people who love doors and architecture to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos, drawings, or other images or stories from around the world. If you’d like to join us, simply create your own Thursday Doors post each (or any) week and then share a link to your post in the comments below, anytime between 12:01 am Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time). If you like, you can add our badge to your post.

in primo piano – photos

The gallery includes photos of houses, businesses and a school under construction in the south end of Hartford. I don’t know anything about them other than I like them, and I was able to park across from the near sunrise.

We have had some wonderful participants in Thursday Doors this year. I hope you have a few minutes to visit some of the other pages. There are doors from all over the world.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  1. What lovely homes in that area, Dan. I also loved the cherry Apple Cloud place.
My Thursday Doors post is inspired by the Twilight Zone. I hope everyone will visit.

    1. Some of these are doors you might have driven by, but many of the Hartford doors I’ve shared are off the standard routes. Though most of the larger homes have been converted to apartments, it’s still nice to see remnants of historic Hartford.

I liked the temples you shared and the fact that history was preserved.

    1. I’m glad you liked these, Wayne. I think many of the larger houses have been split into apartments. I don’t know about these houses, but I’ve read in the past that some of the larger houses were built to accommodate multiple people from an extended family. Some were built after our wars with England were settled or during the Industrial Revolution – both peak times for immigration.

As is often the case, you made it hard to choose, today.

  5. Lovely houses. I’m going with the nicest house on the hill. I went for a holiday once in the neighboring state with my brother and his friend. We were just three guys in the house and I got this haunted vibe from it. Of course, the house was not haunted, it was my imagination. It was closed for a year so everything was under wraps. Plus I have lived a major part of my life in a single room (30 sq m) which includes a living room, kitchen, and a bathroom. So, moving up and down in such property for me is a different experience.

    1. You’re assuming it wasn’t haunted, Sharukh ;-) I don’t know what it would be like to live is a place as large as some of these. My only experience is when our family visited relatives in Virginia and we stayed in a large farmhouse. I felt like that house was haunted.

      1. Ha ha ha. Nice try but you’ll have to do better. I think the scariest part was that the attic was packed with bats. Thankfully, we only stayed for 3 days 2 nights.

Impressive gallery Dan. I love the way the sunrise reflects through those homes and the school under construction. Plus a widow’s walk, great porches, nice brickwork, and arches. The No Limit Clinic will never fade into the background, nor will the car wash! Lol! I agree, that does look like a sandwich on the car wash sign!

The last house on the hillside is definitely the nicest!

Enjoy this last day in February in a leap year. See ya in March!

  24. Those houses on the hill are so pretty. I picture people living in them having these beautiful high ceilings and then they walk into a ‘regular’ house like mine and walk hunched over because the ceilings seem so low.
Is the school on schedule to be built or have they stopped building?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I have the same image of those houses, Lois. I fear many have been turned into Apartments and I worry about the interior details. At least the outside looks good.

The school construction continues. If memory serves me – it’s been well over a year – they are renovating and expanding an existing school. Since the State of CT plows a lot of money into the City of Hartford, those are some of my tax dollars at work…sigh, At least I got some nice pictures.

    1. Thursday Doors opens at 12:00 (the only posts of mine during the week that does). It runs until noon Saturday, so there’s now rush to get in. I get my haircut at 7:30 am. I leave with plenty of extra time in case traffic is an issue. If not, I take the slow crawl through Hartford on my way to the barber. The timing works a few times during the year to put the sun behind those buildings. This time, it was near perfect.
