This will be my last blog post for a week. Don’t worry, there’s nothing wrong. I’m just not going to have time to read, like, comment, or write posts and respond to comments. In addition, the time that I will have I will be restricted to using mobile devices, which WordPress has been particularly unkind to for the past few weeks. I am repeatedly being asked to log in before I can Like a post or comment. Sometimes multiple logins are required on a single post.

One-Liner Wednesday by Linda G. Hill

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I’ll see you next week, right here for One-Liner Wednesday.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

      1. I know. In order not to go crazy, I’m having to use my Windows laptop.

  3. Thanks for the morning (mourning?) laugh: the caption for the doves got me! The hyacinths are elegant. I’m watching my lilac anxiously; our nights in the 20s have not been kind to the buds, I fear. I hope your week goes well!

    1. Thanks Maureen. I thought I recognized the body language of those doves. No sun today. We have been dipping rather low at night. I do hope the buds survive. The hyacinths have survived the bunnies, but the lilies next to them never had a chance. I hope you have a good week, too.

  4. Love your header today! Yes, I have those wp problems too, so I can only comment on blogs in the reader, but sometimes your blog doesn’t show up here.
But a couple of days ago, I wasn’t able to comment here either due to a glitch in wp I guess.
Cute pics of the doves and the squirrel! Yep, spring has sprung in your area, here in Florida, it’s always green so…they can’t tell lol.

    1. People have said that my blog doesn’t appear in the Reader, I don’t know why.I don’t use the Reader because I like to read certain blogs first (which emails let me do) and I like seeing the bloggers page, particularly the things they include on the sidebar, which I don’t think the Reader includes – at least it didn’t the last time I checked.

That’s a welcoming sight as you near the park. But, oh my, Mourning Doves having a spat? Tell me it ain’t so!

Those little beggars are impossible to ignore, aren’t they? Love the shadow shot you captured of you and the flag.

Flowers blossoming, trees budding, with a promise of good things to come.

Wow! The last photo of Old Glory is amazing!

Have a wonderful week off. Hopefully when you return WP will have its act together! I’ll leave you laughing at that! 🤗

    1. Thanks Ginger, and thanks for the laugh. I will be asking the Happiness Engineers to look into this, but it may be Apple’s problem. Of course that means it might drift into unending finger-pointing and it will never get fixed.

I thought I recognized the body language of Mr. and Mrs. Dove. It could also be: Mrs. Dove: “Honey look over on the left.” Mr. Dove: “I don’t see anything.” Mrs. Dove: “Your other left, dear.”

The little beggars know what works. I swear they know the sound of every door. We open an door and they’re there, huffing and puffing.

I wasn’t sure I captured the flag. That was literally a point & shoot job.

I hope you have a good week. If I do make it out to some blogs, I’ll look for you in the comments.

    1. I have one of the smaller iPhones (newer SE) and typing on that is a disaster. I love my iPad, but as soon as I push “Like,” it churns and churns and pops up a login. Of course, then I have to log into my password manager, or hope Apple finds the right credentials (it seems to keep them for each blog page). Then, when I try to leave a comment, I get the pop-up again and I want to toss the iPad into the yard for the squirrels to play with. Of course that would result in orders from Nuts.com being delivered to the rear fence.

  7. Nice photo of the long shadows of you and the flagpole.

I have had problems with WordPress logins on a laptop, but at least they have accepted likes without requiring a re-login. I haven’t tried Wp on a phone perhaps because I’ve never learned to type well on phones.

    1. I can’t type well at all on a phone, Frank. I say it’s because my phone is small by today’s standards, but it’s my fat finger approach to typing. My tablet is smaller than my laptop, but I have so much trouble getting WordPress to realize and to remember it’s me at the keyboard. I’m glad you liked that photo. I hope you have a very nice week.

    1. Thanks John. That’s the same phone I have. No use trying to type. The iPad is easier, but the constant logging in is a pain. I love walking as the sun is rising, but when I’m walking into it, I don’t see much. I hope you have a good week, too.

  11. If ever there was a cringe-worthy sign, “No Sanitary Facilities” is right up there with a silver bullet. 🤐😬

I love the line for the mourning doves. You know that is exactly what they were saying! So funny, Dan.

My husband is very ticked off. His favorite fishing spot now has ‘pay to park’ signs everywhere–it’s in a park on the Gulf, for cryin’ out loud–and most of the fishing bridges are being repaired. His fishing gear is all ready to go. Now he just has to figure out where to go!

    Have a wonderful week!

  12. I find many blogs I follow will require me to type my blog address. Every single time on several of them. Grrr. Not that I have any knowledge, but am firmly of the belief that this is a consequence of shoving down…err I mean, ‘encouraging’ bloggers to use that stupid Block Editor…at least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Really chaffs my hide. It’s bad enough creating content in a busy world, now they make taking the time to comment onerous. As I follow everyone in WP via email notification, I skip the bugs in Reader though I’ve had to re-subscribe on occasion once I realize I’m not receiving email notices. It’s an imperfect world, isn’t it? Sigh.

Enjoy your time off-hope you’re doing something fun along with staying busy.

  17. Your experience is one I feared as far as using WP on a mobile device. Heck, I’ve got two giant monitors from my last position positioned quite nicely behind my laptop, so heading to a mobile device for any length of time wasn’t really something I was working towards. I do check my posts on my phone after posting (which I actually just did after a year “off”!) to see how the post “presents” on that medium. Have a great week, Dan!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I don’t use an external monitor any longer, so the difference between my laptop and my iPad isn’t that much, in terms of size. The difference in experience is huge. On my laptop, if I need to login, my password manager provides the information and I click on “OK.” and I’m done. On the iPad, I have to verify the username and password separately, and if I’m using the password manager, I often have to enter the master password – that’s a royal pain.

In the true tradition of WordPress, I didn’t get a notification of a new post on your site. I’ll be sure to check that out.

  33. […] No Facilities “I enjoyed this story, Amanda. I generally like a happy ending, but life doesn’t always go that way. I like the way you gradually introduced us to the situation. I, too, thought Holly and Manny were romantically involved at first, but that thought faded soon enough. I like the sense of immediacy set up by Manny quitting his job. If not for that, I’d have a ton of questions about timing but I think that action sets the pace of the story. I wish Holly had acted sooner but the outcome would have been the same. I get the sense that she remained optimistic and spent the day moving forward. None of that could have come out had she discovered the outcome earlier, or if the news had indicated that (maybe) Manny was badly injured. It might be a good to add a little to explain why she remained optimistic. Maybe a short conversation she has with herself. All in all, good story, sad ending but real.” […]
