Happy Monday! Before I start searching the archive for “Things that are Rough” to satisfy Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge, I want to remind you of a different challenge.

The 4th Annual Thursday Doors Writing Challenge (TDWC) kicks off on Wednesday, May 1st.

If you don’t know or don’t remember how this challenge works, allow me to explain. We, the participants in the weekly Thursday Doors Challenge, have contributed twenty-eight photos of doors. You, the writer, the poet, the storyteller, choose one (or more) of these photos as inspiration for your contribution to TDWC. You post your writing on your blog and you post a link to that blog post on the TDWC main page. You can write as many stories as you like between May 1st and June 1st.

Note: If you don’t have a blog, email me your story (noFacilities@gmail.com) and I’ll post it. If you have trouble sharing the link, send me an email and let me know. If you have any questions, send me an email.

Okay, I hope that’s clear. Now, let’s look for some rough stuff.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  6. That woodpecker is a beauty! I must say there is nothing rough about the lives of those squirrels — so many peanuts, so little time! That scarf joint is impressive, as is that wood path through the woods (do I remember right that Faith helped to build that?). There seems to be a correlation between “rough” and work!

    1. Good memory, Maureen. Faith is part of the service organization that built that walkway over a swamp. The squirrels are quick to point out that there aren’t always enough peanuts. The little beggars have us well trained, That’s one of the best examples of a scarf joint I’ve ever seen. These days, they rely more on metal brackets, so it was neat to seem them using those joints.

I always get a kick out of this guy peeking out of his treehouse checking to see if “DanDash” delivered his peanuts! Love the downy woodpecker and what looks like a wooden pigeon next to him.

The squirrel munching in the dogwood is too cute.

The section of the forest where you could now walk, wasn’t Faith involved in constructing those wood paths?

You covered ‘rough’ very nicely Dan. I think I can safely say today’s weather won’t be rough for either of us. Yaaayyyy!

    1. That little squirrel is waiting for DanDash. I hope I get a good rating. She lets me take her picture as a tip.

Faith is part of the organization that built that walkway. You guys have good memories.

It was 58 when left for my walk, Ginger. That’s a great way to welcome Monday. I hope you have a great week.

  14. Good roughs, Dan. Those little squirrels…they are pros at using their cuteness for food. A Scarf Joint. Great name for a cool cut.

    1. They are pros, Lois. They know where we are, when we can be found and I think that practice that look. Scarf joints are kind of amazing.
