Three years ago, right around this time, I released Knuckleheads, the first book in the Dreamer’s Alliance series. A.K.A. the trilogy with four books. That series ended last September, but a couple of the new characters moved on to star in a new book that will be released in July (if everything goes according to plan).

There are four Sundays left in June, four books in the series, seems like we should do something interesting. Here’s what I have in mind:

Beginning Sunday June 9th* (see below) and continuing until Sunday June 30th, one of the books in the Dreamer’s Alliance series will go on sale each week with one of Amazon’s Countdown sales. If you buy on Sunday, it will cost $0.99, if you procrastinate, the price goes up until it returns to $2.99—still a bargain, but…

Also, each week, before the book goes on sale, someone will win a copy. Here’s how that works:

If you want a copy of the book-of-the-week, send an email to me at NoFacilities at Gmail dot com (you know how that works). In the email, tell me who you are, where you’re located, and which book you’re trying to win. Your email must arrive by noon, Saturday US Eastern Time (adjusted for Daylight Saving time). You can try to win any book (see marketing block at the end), but only the book listed will be given away. So, if you want a copy Secrets Held Against Evil, it will be given away on June 29th. You can enter each week, if you like, but you can only win once (unless nobody else wants a copy).

But wait, there’s more (I’ve always wanted to say that).

We’re talking Kindle copies, so make sure you use the email you use with Amazon. Since Amazon only lets me give away Kindle copies to people in the US, people in other countries will get an Amazon gift certificate for the US price of the book. And since the Countdown sale pricing only works in the US and UK, the gift certificate will be for the regular US price. How’s that for being inclusive.

By the way, you don’t have to have a Kindle to read a Kindle eBook. Amazon makes reader software/apps for Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone, iPad and Chromebooks. They all work well and they are all free.

For the one-liner:

Check out my new Contact and Stuff page as shown on the menu at the top of each post.

One-liner Wednesday by Linda G. Hill

Why the asterisk? Because my books are at the renewal point for the Amazon program that provides access to the Countdown Deals, I am not completely in charge of when this sale starts. I think Knuckleheads will go on sale on June 9th, but I cannot schedule that at this time. In any case, it will go on sale from some point until June 15th.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  1. I like all the animal activity, lots of cute. My mate had a band called The Knucklehead Orchestra 😁

  2. Little Chippy is rather wonderful. Well done, Dan, for generating so much action. Good luck with sales! I do have Kindle on my phone but don’t really enjoy using it. I am woefully old style.

    1. I am old school as well, Jo. I wish I could give away paperback copies. I might when the new book is released. Chippy is a bandit, but he’s so cuter, he gets away with it. He actually climbed into the little bucket, but realized he didn’t have room to eat.

  3. So many bunnies! Best of luck with your upcoming sales promo! I’m looking forward to the newest release in July.

    1. Thanks Deborah. The bunny parade continues. The good news is that we don’t have to feed them. We just let enough “weeds” grow in the yard. My wife did plant some lettuce for them, but it hasn’t come up yet.

      1. Oh boy, they’re going to love that when it does!

        1. My dad used to plant lettuce around his garden every week or so. It did a pretty good job of keeping the bunnies out.

  4. It’s hard work being a published writer! I hope the promotion goes well. I love to see a rabbit with his nose buried in clover; that means his nose isn’t buried in my garden. Word is out about your breakfast special!

    1. I enjoy writing, Maureen. I love it when people tell me they liked reading my book. I absolutely hate promotion. I feel like I’m carrying a bag of brushes and vacuum cleaners to your door. We’ve let things grow that the rabbits like, and we’ve (my wife) planted a sacrificial crop of lettuce around the area where her garden is. We’re hoping it works.

      1. “A sacrifical crop” — I think I just heard a bunch of rabbits laugh. All things they can reach are sacrificial crops! But I’ll hope it works anyway!

I don’t blame you for feeling like the Fuller Brush Man. I think all of us who love writing cringe at the thought of promoting ourselves. But this is not the world we grew up in, so knock on those doors!

  5. There must be an animal blinking light at the end of your driveway pointing to the amazing smorgasbord. :-) I applaud the Editor being able to grow anything with Wild Kingdom outside her front door. :-)

    1. She had been using “containers” (7-gallon buckets) for her gardening since 2020. Most critters avoid them. She started with smaller buckets, but the rabbits could reach them. They seem to be ignoring the garden, in favor of the buffet. Plus, we have one squirrel who buries the pumpkin seeds from the buffet mix. We much have 50 pumpkin plants growing in the yard. Those little white markers identify the ones we’re trying not to mow.

Books and sales and deals, oh my! I hope this promotion is a big success.

Did you and the Editor ever think you would be the owners and worker bees of a wildlife smorgasbord? All these critters are sure lucky to have you in their neighborhood. The photo of Chip in the safflower seeds is precious.

Enjoy today, rain on the way tonight….but we need it.

    1. Thanks Ginger. I hate the promotion work, I’m not very good at it, and it is frustrating when “rules” get in the way, but I guess it’s a necessary evil. I wish marketing was as easy as building a buffet for the animals. News of that seems to have spread on its own. We have more bunnies than ever (and we don’t even feed them) and we even have crows dropping in for a snack, now.

The safflower seeds were added for the cardinals, but they seem to be like crack for Chippy.

Looking forward to the rain, unless it hangs around too long.

    1. Thanks GP. I’m not sure what works, and I don’t want to “over post” about the books. I’m going to try to ease this marketing stuff in on the side.

That chipmunk is bold and adorable. We can’t shoo him away because we want to get a picture.

  15. That is such a great advertisement: ‘a trilogy with four books.’ Good luck with the sale/giveaway, Dan.

    Chippy is so cute!

The ‘I gotta hurry’ squirrel…I took photos of one like that in our front yard because I thought it was pretty unique, but yours is just like mine! Are these babies and their tail hasn’t changed color? Or are these some special kind of squirrel? I don’t recall seeing that blonde-colored tail on one before.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks Lois. That squirrel is an adult. We’ve seen some with interesting colors, but this is a first. We’ve seen ones with almost that color bellies.

  19. I’m loving all those rabbits, although love usually varies a bit, depending on what they decide to nibble. The same with chipmunks who, to me, are much cuter in the wild where they’re not tempted to eat or dig up things I value. Doesn’t happy here, but it certainly did in the Midwest. :-)

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Chippy and his family have dug their share of tunnels, but so far, they haven’t eaten anything we care about. They might have eaten some tulip bulbs, but the bunnies would eat the flowers anyway. The bunnies seem content to eat the grass and “weeds” we allow to flourish in the back yard.

  29. Wishing you a huge success with all your books, Dan. I do feel guilty about not being able to read your books, or for that matter any book these days. In fact, Sarah and I often get into debate when she is clearing old stuff and she comes across this box full of novels. I used to read a lot of Jeffrey Deaver crime novels and I still have them. Plus some biographies and investigative true crime books. Whenever Sarah cleans that box she is like – Sharukh when are you going to read the remaining ones? I’m like probably someday. Maybe someday when I have enough money to renovate my apartment I will have a bookshelf and put all of them there.
