Cee published a blog post late last week. She’s in rehab, and you can read the update, here.

Since I normally publish photos according to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge, I thought I’d try and find photos that might cheer her up. I hope you enjoy them, too.

Just a quick reminder. Knuckleheads, the first novel in the Dreamer’s alliance is on sale through tomorrow (use link below). Also, there is still time to register to win a free copy of The Evil You Choose.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  6. “Say it with flowers,” as the saying goes — or with bridges or doors or water in the woods. It all works! A lovely get-well card for Cee, and a Monday boost for everyone. Thanks!

  7. That sunflower field image reminded me of my time at my brother-in-law’s farm. I did manual farming at his jowar (sorghum) farm for five days. I stayed on the farm for five days and it was a very stressful, tiring, but memorable experience. There were no machines to harvest so I had to use a sickle to cut the crops, assemble them, and leave them to dry. At night, I had to stay awake to safeguard the assembled crop from robbers who could come in at any time. I used to bathe in the open stream and do necessary activities in those sunflower fields that belonged to someone else and work the whole day. I think the best part of the experience was that at night I could see so many stars up in the sky because I was way away from any village. The nearest village was at least 2 miles away in any direction. Plus I had no light, it could give away my location to the robbers. The only light source I had was moonlight. I spent 5 days and 4 nights like that and back then I was 17 and a complete city boy. Initially, I did get a few cuts from the sickle, but I quickly learned how to use it the right way. I never went to the farm again ever, but yeah the experience was unforgettable.

    1. I’ve worked on farms, Sharukh, but that sounds like a remarkable experience. I’ll think twice about walking through a field of sunflowers, now ;-)

  10. Lovely photos for the Queen of Photos. Wishing her a speedy and full recovery. Recoveries get a little more challenging as we ‘mature.’ Take care, Dan, and stay cool as we move out of this nice stretch of weather into the hot zone.

I’m going to be working outside early this week. I’m not ready to see three digits on the weather station, but I guess Nature doesn’t need my permission.

I think your entire gallery today is a very special get well card for
Cee. The sunflowers alone would perk her up! They are a perfect example of “beating the odds”…..A huge flower on top of a ridiculously tall stem, and they manage to stand up tall and straight. I hope Cee does exceptionally well in rehab and beats the odds of when she will return home well on her way to being fully healed.

Your photos are so uplifting you even got my day back on track since it derailed when I got up.

Hope you and the Editor beat the heat that’s coming. A heat wave in June! What next? Never mind, don’t answer that!

    1. Thanks Ginger. The sunflowers are remarkable, until a squirrel decides to climb that small stem for the goodness at the top.

I’m not ready for triple-digits in June, but I guess we need to get things done outside early this week. And keep the birdbaths full.

I hope you have a good week. I’m going be in and out here, but trying to stay cool.

  14. I love the sunflowers! I’m gathering all the things to decorate my front door exterior in a sunflower theme after the 4th of July decor comes down. They’re so cheerful! I like all the other flowers you shared as well as the bridges. I hope they cheer Cee up and she heals fast and gets out of that cast soon.

  20. Oh gosh, poor Cee-we hope full recovery is in the near future. If these wonderful flowers don’t bring cheer, I don’t know what would. Those sunflowers are absolutely smile inducing, much like that purple flower, (Spiderwort if I’m not mistaken) always bring me cheer.

  23. I hope these photos cheered up Cee. They definitely put a big smile on my face! Love the sunflowers and bridges. Have you been to the Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood? The Cascade Mountains on the west coast are grand and humbling. We have nothing like those mountains here in the East. Great photos, Dan.

    1. I love sunflowers, too, Jennie. I have been to Timberline Lodge. I lived in Seattle for three years in the late 1970s, and I’ve visited the Pacific Northwest several times since moving to New England. The Cascades are remarkable.
