On Sunday, our daughter treated me to lunch at our favorite Thai restaurant and an afternoon visit to Old Sturbridge Village. If you’ve been around this blog for a while—as little as seven months—you know that we are members at OSV and we visit at least twice a year. However, we don’t visit often enough to be certain of their operating hours.

As we were planning our day, I thought it wise to check if OSV opened later on Sundays. I searched for – Old Sturbridge Village hours. Google responded with a pop-up asking me if I would like to see results close to my location.

Um, Google, the closest Old Sturbridge Village to my location is the one in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.

Linda G. Hill — One Liner Wednesday

I want to remind everyone that there will be no Thursday Doors tomorrow. There will be a post you can link up to (if you insist), but I won’t have any photos and I won’t be able to view your posts, at least not for a few days.

After today, Knuckleheads is no longer on sale. Beginning tomorrow, The Evil You Choose will be on sale through next Wednesday.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

    1. That little guy had them on the run 20 minutes later. The guy had called his wife to help with the chase, but they were yelling. I wouldn’t have come back either, if I were the dog. When our dog got off leash one time, I just sat down in the grass. She ran around for a few minutes and then came over and sat with me.

Google seems to be getting worse lately.

  3. Me and Google have violent disagreements, Dan. Especially when using the GPS in a foreign country and it insists on taking you down a cart track because it’s the ‘shortest route’. In a hire car which screams when overhanging branches dangle too near, and tries to drag you into a ditch. Enjoy your couple of ‘days off?’

    1. Thanks Jo. Google seems to be giving me the results it thinks I should have instead of the ones I’m asking for. It’s like I have to relearn how to search to keep it on track.

Hi Dan – it’s like me (a Brit) when I see Newcastle – think of our Newcastle … only to realise there’s one in South Africa, one in Australia, one in Canada, and one in your country – it’s life our names of people and places ‘move’! Cheers and was happy to think of you and Faith enjoying yourselves – Hilary

    1. Thanks Hilary. I always laugh at how settlers came here to get away from England and then named every city and town after one in England. By the way, there’s a Newcastle, Pennsylvania near where I grew up. I hope you have a great week.

  5. As soon as I saw that top photo, I thought “Oooh! OSV!” My next thought was “take me to the ice house!” I loved your conversation with that disembodied voice. I bet there are lots of great dialogues in cars all over the place. It sounded like a made-to-order Fathers’ Day.

    1. I’m glad people don’t tire of my photos of OSV. I’m working on a special project for Teagan’s Christmas in July writing project that will include the Village. That’s about a month away. We had a very nice day.

  6. We visited Old Sturbridge Village in 2009 (?) when we attended a wedding in that area. Very nice place.

Another great photo gallery, Dan! And, yes, all bunnies are good bunnies. :-) 😂

    1. Thanks Dave. This was a wonderful day. We arrived at the restaurant before it got crowded and we had a relaxing day walking the grounds and watching a few artisans work their colonial magic. The bunnies are out in force early. I guess they want to beat the heat, too.

    1. Limited off line. I will be visiting family. I might have some time for blogging and reading, but nothing I want to commit to. We did have a wonderful day. The dog was still running twenty minutes later when I came back around. The man’s wife had joined the chase, but they were yelling in such an angry tone that I think they were driving the dog away.

  9. Google might have shown you a closer OSV, Dan. Now you will never know. 😆

Have you been given new tag selections here on WP? I don’t remember what I posted last week, but right before I hit ‘publish’ some new tag options for my post popped up. Thanks, but no.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I’ll run the risk that there’s a secret second OSV between here and Sturbridge, Lois.

I haven’t seen tag options appearing. I do tag all my posts, but I make them up myself. I guess that means WP is reading your post before you publish it.

      1. Oh, gosh–WP is reading what we write! That has only happened one or two times where they offered up more suggestions, but I graciously refused. I figured they were just showing off!

  10. I only use Google for GPS on my phone. Sometimes I have to take its recommendations on where to turn with a grain of salt, but generally it is pretty good. I’ve learned that I should know the general route in advance, but I’m not that good at following my own advice. Some of my family members have Google (or something similar) listen in on them. They speak some kind of prompt phrase, ask a question and then voila an answer comes out of the speaker! I haven’t reached that level.

    1. I don’t have anything listening to me in my house, but I do use Apple CarPlay to send/reply to text messages in the car. I agree, you should have a good idea of where you’re going.

I knew you and Faith would celebrate the perfect Father’s Day together, and going to OSV guaranteed that! Those calves are soooo cute.

Okay, puppy jumping out of truck. Why wasn’t he/she safely harnessed in? Some people should not be pet owners. Glad that pup wasn’t hurt, but perhaps he saw a chance to escape from the idiot humans. Yeah, yelling and racing around is a sure way NOT to get the pup back.

Enjoy your mini break from blogging. It will sure be a hot few days ahead. I know you will enjoy the family time.

The people with the dog should not have a dog. The one time Maddie got off leash, I just sat in the grass in the park and she came back to sit with me.

It is hot here. Trying to get outside stuff done early. Take care.

      1. Oh, I’m sorry about the heat and things turning brown. That’s how summers are in the Bay Area but, here in NV where I live now everything is green in the summer and brown in the winter.
I hope you get some relief soon!

  18. Right after reading the post, I went online and searched for OSV and browsed their official site. Sounds like a fun place to be. Here in India, we have similar museums that showcase rural lifestyles and other things, but they usually are not up to the mark. I mean they’re not value-for-money places. Eventually, with a lack of visitors, they deteriorate and shut down. Well, you guys enjoy the trip. Safe travels. :)
