in primo piano – photos

As you might recall, the day I arrived in Iowa, my brother and I attended the beer club he is a member of. I managed to capture a few of the doors in the large facility at Singlespeed Brewery.

I think the captions explain the photos well enough. I hope you will take a few minutes to visit some of blog posts of the other participants.

Secrets Held Against Evil, the 4th book in my Dreamer’s Alliance Series remains on sale through Saturday fr $0.99. You can click on the link in the widget below if you’re interested.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

I know I have street art and mural fans, so I had to include that.

  10. Hmmm, beer club, now that sounds interesting – I belong to a music club, which is an excuse for 6 middle-aged men to listen to vinyl records and drink wine/beer. No trips included. A nice selection of modern doors.

  14. Writers know about word sounds, you know, and I think “beer club” just sounds right. Those words were made for each other. All those outdoor tables with the lights overhead look like a wonderful place to be on a summer evening. The sign about the kids is brilliant. A lot of doors = a lot of welcome.

Is that door sign/sticker about kids for real?? Expresso and a puppy…oolala!

  17. This looks like a really nice place. We have more beer places popping up in town… At one of the city council meetings where talk was ongoing about what to do with a piece of property that had recently been cleared, someone stood up and said, “Yes, you speak about affordable housing, but are you just going to put another craft beer place here?” I think the point was taken and the parcel of land remands vacant.

    1. I imagine that in spring and fall, when it’s cooler, those doors are open and the whole place feels like your dinning/drinking outside. The heat index the day we were there was 104, so closed doors and A/C on was good.

Thanks for sharing photos from a museum I still hope to get to.

  37. Nice pictures. I loved the simplicity of the brewery. I wrote about so many breweries last year in July-Aug. It was for a travel client. Some were fancy, some industrial, and some simple like this one. We do not have many breweries here in Mumbai, that concept is still new. However, I prefer places that play no music or play it at low volume so that I and Sarah can enjoy the conversation. We skip pubs that have loud head-banging music where we have to scream our lungs out just to say something to each other.
