Amazon surprised me on Monday. I uploaded the final revisions of the manuscript and cover for my latest novel, hoping they would appear on my bookshelf today. I fully expected to schedule this post and return in the morning to add the links. I was shocked when both the paperback and Kindle version were ready to go a few hours later.

Still, being the creature of habit that I am, I decided to wait and announce the availability of this book in my One-Liner Wednesday post—as I have done with all my books.

One-Liner Wednesday by Linda G. Hill.

I was planning to add a catchy quote about habits, but most made habits sound like bad things. When I think of my habits, I think of coffee, beer, chocolate, walking, reading, writing and taking pictures of things that impress me. None of those are bad…are they?

Bridge to Nowhere brings the return of Rachael Todd and she finds herself tangled up in a mystery within a mystery. Perhaps that’s a mystery on top of a mystery—I’m not sure of the precise geometry. However, when Rachael’s friend, Gary becomes the prime suspect in a murder, she uses her role as an investigative reporter to prove his innocence.

Gary has a strong motive for committing this crime, and he has a weak alibi. Circumstantial evidence continues to point to him. Rachael not only needs to find the answers, she has to convince the police and the FBI that there are answers to be found. In doing so, she has to live up to her nickname “Rascal.”

If you need more information, David has invited me to be his guest at the bar on Saturday. I’m sure he will want to explore more details. One thing I will add here, this is an independent story, not a sequel. If you only want to discover more by reading the book, the links are here for you:

Congratulations, Dan. Amazon continues to be a mystery. When I leave book reviews, some of them go live immediately and others take 3-4 days. I’ve never understood why there is such an inconsistency, though I largely have good no complaints with them when it comes to returning items.

    1. Thanks Pete. If I could figure out Amazon, I’d have some serious non-fiction to write. Maybe they just wanted to get their review out of the way for Prime Day. In any case, I’m glad it’s out there.

  4. Hi Dan congratulations on the new book, I have my copy of Bridge to Nowhere! You must come for a guest visit soon to discuss the book. Which I must say is a great read!

Extra cute photos today! The critter’s are full of fun and the rain and cobwebs on the lilly of valley leaves is lovely ….the flag and flowers at the memorial is a stunning shot too. 💜

    1. Thanks Willow. I look forward to visiting with you, in the pub or the garden. I deeply appreciate your help, and I’m glad you enjoyed the book.

Our critters are baking in this recent heatwave, so I’m sure they enjoyed the rain. It didn’t do anything to cool us down, but a big storm this evening is supposed to do the trick. We need the water, and we need to get away from these 93°f (34°c) days.

    1. Thanks Hillary. I love that expression, “done and dusted” – I’ll see you at the bar on Saturday. The bees are enjoying the Bee Balm. They don’t seem to care how close we get, and it’s fun to watch them.

Congratulations on the publication of your latest book. Wishing it is more successful than you are even hoping for!

We have some cow birds here too. Love seeing the bees in the bee balm. Linus’ pumpkin plant is off to a great start. The bunnies and squirrels look quite happy and well fed!

The Memorial Park and Old Glory look grand.

Forecasting rain later today, but they have every day for a week and we’ve only gotten a few drops. We desperately need rain….the good soaking kind. At least it’s cloudy here, right now anyway, so we’re not cooking in the sun!

    1. Thanks Ginger. Same here with the rain. They keep saying it’s coming, but very little falls, and it hasn’t cooled things down, only added humidity. I walked this morning, and it was nice until the sun broke through from behind the clouds. Then it was miserable.

That might be the only pumpkin Linus gets. We watered some that were baking in the sun, but they’re all over the yard. Watering the far ones causes the hose to run over the ones up close. He knows where to plant, but needs a lesson in garden design.

The bees are really enjoying the bee balm. They totally consume those blossoms, even after that look like they’re done.

I hope you get some rain and some cooler temps.

  21. It’s too hot here, too. I’m trying to keep a butterfly water station going for them, but I’ve no idea if they drink the water or if some other critters are drinking all the water. It matters not! The Rose of Sharon photo is perfection.

    1. Every now and then, we mist the bee balm. The water doesn’t last long, but the bees come right back, so maybe they get some benefit.

        1. Thanks. I was trained by our last dog. She was always stopping to sniff something and sometimes, she seemed to point out things I should take a picture of. She’s how I got started taking pictures of the dry leave backlit by the sun. She was fascinated by those. I still walk at the time when she demanded to be walked. 7:15 am.

  32. That baby pumpkin and the bee in the balm are beauties! You have such a good eye for the little things around us. I begin to think that leaves deliberately arrange themselves where you will see them, But then there’s the possibility that bunnies, Smokeys, bees, leaves have all come out to congratulate you — they love knowing an author! I add my congratulations!

    1. Thanks Maureen. Maddie taught me to investigate those leaves. She always walked over to give them a sniff. When I see them, I think of her, and how she always brought me to a good picture. The critters work pretty hard out there. It’s hard to not feel like a slacker ;-)

    1. Linus is shooting for the most sincere pumpkin patch in the area. He really wants a visit from the Great Pumpkin. We much have 25-30 pumpkin plants in the yard. Only two pumpkins so far (the little ones tend to get eaten).
