Usually, when I’m driving, I listen to music that I have tucked away on my phone. It’s mostly old stuff, with a few more modern songs tossed in. Of course, modern might still be oldies for many of you. When I have an early morning errand, I like to listen to a local radio station.

It’s an oldies station, and I’ve listened for decades, as they’ve gone through several morning show hosts. They’ve always had a pair, and as long as I can remember, one guy has been a constant. Lately, he has a co-host who’s a bit younger. After they played the song mentioned in the title, the new guy gave me my one-liner.

That was ‘Carry On’ by Crosby, Nash and Stills!

Unforgivable error on the radio for One-Liner Wednesday by Linda G. Hill

I wanted to call in and complain, but the older DJ took care of things before the phones and the Internet lit up like it was Christmas.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

I remember this being one of the first albums in our house. My oldest brother was was a Crosby, Stills, and Nash fan.

    1. Ah, the young DJ got the order wrong. I wondered what the faux pas was. Thanks, Pete.

    How could I forget Young?

    1. The other DJ didn’t think so. I guess several listeners called in to correct the younger DJ.

  4. I think it’s hilarious that there was such a reaction — people do have strong feelings about music! That’s a gorgeous summer sky over the plane, and of course the trestle, in all seasons, photogenic. Those have to be the world’s happiest bees and bunnies.

    1. It was funny, especially hearing the older DJ jumping all over the younger guy.

We lost those gorgeous skies. It’s been raining here for a couple days. This is when we’re in the takeoff pattern. We can’t see the planes, but we can hear them and feel them. The bees are so happy. They are so graceful when they land on the blossoms. I can’t imagine the blossoms can hold them, but they do. The bunnies love it here.

  5. Bunnies, bunnies everywhere… but none for me. I notice people in Northern Maine are reporting sightings, but nothing here yet.

    1. Hang in there. They are moving farther up into New England, and there’s an organized effort to rebuild their population.

At least he had the right names, just not in the right order. If that’s the biggest blunder he makes on the radio, he’s good!

We are also knee deep in bunnies. I love watching them play together.

No wonder you have happy bees. You provide them with a smorgasbord of goodies.

I like those shots of the birds floating on the driftwood.

    Happy Hump Day Dan.

    1. Simple mistake, but on a drive-time show, it was fodder for several minutes of abuse. Much better than listening to talking heads.

We’ve never had this many bunnies. They are so fun to see, and we even walk around to fill the birdbaths so as not to disturb them when they’re eating. The bees are amazing. They love those flowers, and they don’t mind me getting pictures.

That piece of driftwood must be snagged on something. It’s been in that spot for over a month.

I hope you have a great rest of the week, Ginger. Thanks for the visit/comment.

  7. I do remember that song by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. It has been a long time since I last heard it.

    1. I have to credit my brother for introducing me to CSN&Y and Chicago, Frank. I hear them every now and then on this station, but I generally avoid the morning drive time.

  9. A new train station? Now, you just need a crane to add to the fun. :-)

    1. Hee hee – I’m guessing one will be showing up if they go any higher. Our current station is little more than a cattle siding. A ramp to a short platform. Only one car platforms, so, when coming home, you have to listen to the conductor to find out what car to be in.

  10. I hope that C-130 is partly for me, Dan, but I love the bunnies and train trestle too!

    1. Well, I knew you’d like the C-130, GP. We were in the takeoff pattern yesterday. It was raining pretty hard, or I would have had some shots of that. Here’s a 22-second video of a pair coming in for a landing – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rq4DG0AiCjs

The trestle is very hard to see right now. The best viewing spot in the summer has been blocked off by Amtrak. The bunnies are impossible to miss – they are everywhere.

A new train station! Do you know how it will look when finished? Will it be a new modern cement box of a building?

    1. It’s supposed to fit well with the historic station just south of it. That station was sold to the town for preservation with the agreement that it never again be used as a train station.

Here’s the promo page for the new one – https://windsorlocksct.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Proj-320-0016-Windsor-Locks-Station_-Fact-Sheet.pdf

  20. Haha. I can imagine your reaction, Dan. Thanks for the music link. For some reason I couldn’t get the song to come to mind — and it’s probably my favorite of their songs. What fabulous harmonies! (To be fair to myself the local stations where I grew up failed to give much airtime to a lot of groups, and this was one of them.) Hugs.

  21. Added this to my music list. I do not have grudges against modern songs, but I still have a huge collection of songs from the 70s and 80s (English songs) on my playlist. Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins has never moved down to the second spot since it was added to the list. Thanks to you, I added Johnny Cash to my list. Subsequently, Niel Diamond, Loretta Lynn, Alan Jackson, and others got on the list. In the younger generation, do give a try to Maren Morris (80s Mercedes/ Sugar / My Church). I think she’s phenomenally good. My Church is a great song when you are heading out for a drive.
