I am still swamped with getting things done before the cold weather arrives. Normally, I wouldn’t have so much to do, but we’ve been blessed with some very nice weather, yesterday’s high was 83°f (28°c), so we’re trying to finish some projects that we might have left for spring. So, a quick one-liner for you today.

One of the things I can thank my brother for introducing me to is a great summertime drink. Pomegranate juice and Mike’s Hard Lemonade over ice. It may sound weird, but it is refreshing. That’s what led to today’s one-liner.

My wife and I belong to Costco. One of the problems with that membership is Costco often has things in quantities that aren’t a good fit for two people. We were walking by the refrigerated section when I spied a large jug of Pomegranate juice. I told my wife that it was a very good price, but it was simply to much juice. She said:

You don’t have to drink it with Mike’s.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. 1. Great Autumn colours and shadows Dan.
It was good to see and hear the Chinook

    1. Thanks Brian. I’m glad you enjoyed this. There is so much color around, I get carried away. The Chinook is a great subject. I know it’s coming in plenty of time to get ready for it.

  5. Nice to see those fall colors, Dan. While it is hard (not impossible) to find such colors in Mumbai October is usually a festive month as Diwali is one of the grandest and brightest festivals here. So, lots of colors to see everywhere.

  6. You’ve got some great images here. That full moon behind the red leaves is a real beauty. As is that little maple! We’ve sure been given some great autumn days this year.

  7. Hi Dan – I enjoy pomegranate juice, though haven’t any in a while. Brought me reminders of my pomegranate tree in South Africa – happy days. Good luck as you rush on to get as much done as possible in the warm weather – perhaps even hot. Ours isn’t too cool yet – rainy though – the colours are gorgeous. Cheers Hilary

    1. Thanks Hilary. Pomegranate juice is very good. Eating the fruit was fun when I was a kid. My grandmother always had some around. Maybe she just wanted to keep me quiet for a while. It looks like we’ll be staying in the mid-50 to mid-60 range for a while (13-19°c). Still warm enough to work outside.

  10. While the savings are nice I just can’t shop at Costco or Sam’s. The quantities are more than we can ever consume.
    Lovely maple tree color.

    1. There are some things at Costco that we simply can’t buy. Snacks are a big one. There’s no way I could eat a giant bag of chips. The maples are showing off this year. That bunny lives under our porch. He was running out into the yard when I spooked him. I said. “Just let me get a picture for River, then you can go.”

  11. Same weather here with today being the last one before it plummets back to a more normal late fall range. I have seven final things to bring in today, and then I’m pretty much done, well, except for leaves. :-)

    1. I’m still using my trailer as a support system for some painting projects, but I need to get it out of the garage soon. It has to wait a few days, as I patched the driveway leading into the garages. The dogwood leaves are falling, but the maples are hanging on. That’s good. I wouldn’t want to be picking up leaves when its 80 degrees. Good luck with those seven things.

  12. I think those autumn trees have even better coloring than pomegranate juice. :-) Excellent photos, Dan!

  13. The shots of the moon and the sun through the trees are lovely. Your Korean Dogwood is just stunning as is that feisty little Red Maple!

The pictures of the crew on the Connecticut River are great. They look like they’re gliding on glass.

Awesome photo of Old Glory at sunrise.

The weather gods are with you for a bit longer to help you finish up those pre-winter chores. Enjoy this amazing weather we’re having.

    1. Thanks Ginger. That crew on the river was being coached by an aggressive coxswain. She was pushing them upstream at a good clip.

The maple trees are out in their glory this year. They seem brighter than normal.

I think we’ll be in good shape for winter. The leaves can wait until it’s in the 50s. I’m not raking in 80-degree weather.

They’re still playing soccer in the park, so the crews are still hard at it when I walk. Soon enough, it will be quiet at the memorial.

      I hope you’re having a good week.

  14. And of course the wife is correct isn’t she!

We are members of Costco too and agree the sizes of the products are not always convenient but with planning and storing wisely we find a trip every month work out really well for us and the petrol too!

Lovely photos Dan from the hidden rabbit to the baby Maple ! You’re spot on with your shadow critters 💜😍😍

    1. Thanks Willow. We have a set of items we buy at Costco. I have to go up next week for D-size batteries. We have a number of motion-sensitive lights outside that take D-cells. I replace the batteries twice a year. They come on more often in the winter, so we get about 5 months now, and 7 when I change them in the spring.

  20. The full moon behind the trees and that little maple…the colors of fall are so amazingly beautiful.

We belong to Sam’s–we don’t have a Costco nearby–and I know what you mean about buying in bulk. Your wife’s comment made me laugh. Whatever does she mean?! 😆

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Some of the quantities are laughable. I can’t imagine a family of four eating the bag of Brussels Sprouts they sell, even prepared in the least healthy way possible. But I know some smaller restaurants buy stuff there, so maybe it’s all good. I do tend to look at that juice as an ingredient, not a stand-alone item.

      1. I was in our Sam’s on Monday…behind one of those guys who buys for a restaurant. Sam’s wants you to check out your own groceries so only keeps about two people-manned checkouts open. The woman behind me was having a fit watching two guys unload their flatbeds loaded down with more cans of queso than I could eat in my lifetime. She said, “Commercial!” with such disdain in her voice, I wanted to laugh but thought better of it.

  21. I agree about the massive bulk items at Costco. I go about twice a year and stock up. The drink sounds light and refreshing. Yep, the drones are everywhere these days. Love the photos, but I think my fave today is the bunny hiding in the shadows.

    1. Thanks Jan. That bunny lives under our porch. He makes his way out along the foundation to get to where the “grass” is to his liking.

I love those two shots of the river with and without the rowers.

We’re in the mid 70’s in the days now as well. I need to trim some bushes and plants today myself.

    1. It was huge bottle. I think it woul dbe great for a family of four, but my wife doesn’t really like it.

We’re going to cool off for a few days this weekend and then head back into the 70s. I was working outside today and actually wished it was a little cooler. The heat we had this summer is why I put these jobs off in the first place.

    1. It’s a good mix, Teagan, and refreshing with a nice bunch of ice. The only problem I have with Mike’s is how easy they go down.

  27. My husband and I struggle with Costco quantities too. That being said, my very slim husband has been known to consume an entire Costco pie all by himself. I have no idea how he does it, but since I don’t care for pumpkin pie, he’s on his own. Mike’s and pomegranate juice sounds pretty good!
