One bit of disappointment when my brother and I drove up to Geneva on the Lake Ohio was finding that most of the bars and restaurants on the entertainment strip were only open Thursday through Sunday. We left the beach area, hoping to find somewhere to eat on the ride home. We spied a Mexican restaurant as soon as we reached the city of Geneva, and a parking space directly across the street.

I hope you enjoy the photos in the gallery. I apologize for the food photos. I’ve been craving Mexican food lately and I liked seeing these. I think I need to visit our local place soon. I also hope you’ll take a few moments to follow the links left by the other participants.

Remember, if you can’t get to those blogs today, I’ll prepare a recap of all the posts for a post on Sunday.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

    1. Thanks Teresa. We had been looking forward to the kind of unhealthy food you find along a carnival strip, but this was much nicer. A good long break, good food and great service.

  7. ummmm….You sure about those restroom doors? I always love the part about the chips and salsa. If the salsa doesn’t scorch my teeth, that’s all I need for dinner. Lucky for you and your brother that Luisa was there!

    1. Ha! Yes, I fixed the captions on the restroom doors. At least I know people read the captions. The scary part is, I zoomed in on the photos to make sure I knew which was which. I blame the food photos. I was thinking about running out for a few tacos. The salsa had a little kick to it, but was tasty enough to keep going back to even though we were struggling to finish the entree.

  8. It looks like you found a good Mexican place. Was the food good? It looked good and plentiful!

The double barn doors are nice, but think the bathroom doors are reversed. 😊

The VW van front seemed out of place didn’t it.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. You are correct, Deborah, the doors were reversed. I fixed that, but I don’t want people to think you were mistaken.

The food was excellent, and I struggled to finish the generous portion. It was good I was a passenger on the ride home.

I have no idea what the purpose of the VW van was. I tried looking that up, but they are on a winter break, and their website is down. I checked Facebook, and it seems the owners are retiring but new owners will open under a different name. Luisa is the original owners daughter.

Hopefully the next time you drive through there hungry and stop in you find it just as delicious.

  12. Something a little different from you this week. I love the front end of the truck – is it a VW campervan? The food looked great, although I don’t know if I would like steak and shrimp (prawns) together. Great to have all the doors themed on the one location of the restaurant.

More Exeter doors from me, this time from the area around the cathedral: http://scooj.org/2024/11/21/thursday-doors-21-november-2024-exeter-doors/#Exeter#Devon#England

    1. Thanks Steve. That is a VW van. Why it’s in the restaurant is a mystery, but it added an element of whimsy, which I always appreciate. The food was excellent. I wasn’t planning to feature doors from one place, but the Men’s room (I did know which was which) on the lower level was occupied. A sign said there were more restrooms upstairs, and then I found there were more doors and no people, so I could snap away.

Thanks for joining us with your lovely doors.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. The building is in the historic downtown area, on the main road to the shore. The restaurant has been there for 20 years. It’s changing hands soon, but it seems like it will remain a Mexican restaurant. I’m not sure about the VW Van. The food was excellent, and the people were all very nice.

    1. I’ve sen many varieties of food like Mexican food, including Cuban food. Similar, but different. It’s like the way middle eastern food (which is what I was partially raised on) varies from country to country. This place was serving what is probably better called Mexican-American food, i.e. the stuff we expect to find as opposed to what people from Mexico might enjoy. I have eaten in “Authentic Mexican” restaurants, but I’m not aware of any near us.

I really enjoyed your post today. I love history, and timber frame buildings.

Looks like you found a great place to eat, assuming the food was good. I don’t eat Mexican food, but I admit it sure looks good. The portions are more than generous.

The truck body is a bit weird. There has to be a story behind it. This place looks so cheerful and homey. I bet the waitstaff was excellent.

Again, thanks for a great tour of a place I would never otherwise see.

Rained all night, and still raining! No hard downpours as predicted, just a wonderful steady soaking rain. Some days life is good. 🤗

  25. Great doors, and that food looks delicious! I’ve made it up to my head that there’s a van/truck head in the restaurant because the original owner started with a food truck. It reminded me of a country place Where I filled in on Sunday as a bartender. The area was populated by Mexican farm workers and Sunday was their only day off. Talk about Fiesta time. The only thing is that the restaurant where I worked was vegetarian so no meat and shrimps. Funny to say it was called “New Yorker” and back in 1999-2000 plenty of movie stars and singers used to visit. I got the opportunity to take orders of many of them and see them in person up close. The restaurant still exists but has lost its charm now. You may Google “Newyorker Mumbai” and in Images you will find the pictures. It will say – New Yorker – Pizzeria.Italian.Mexican.
