I’ve got a trashcan near a nightstand. The nightstand is near a corner, but about 4″(10cm) from the wall. I dropped a Kleenex (if you’re unfamiliar with the brand, that’s a tissue, and technically, mine aren’t Kleenex, we prefer Puffs but none of that matters). A soft fluffy tissue. I dropped it into the trashcan. It fell, slid, banged and bounced its way in between the can it was supposed to go in and the deep corner between the nightstand and the wall.

Scientists all over the world are trying to find better, more comprehensive definitions of gravity. Well, I have some news for them:

Gravity has a sense of humor.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  1. Lol! A tissue will only go where you want it to if you crumple it tightly so that it has some weight.

    1. Yeah, and a lot of time, crumpling it isn’t something I’m eager to do ;-)

  3. Kleenex has a thing about going where it will. I’ve stood right above the wastebasket and just dropped it straight down. No matter: it still goes on the floor. I hadn’t considered gravity’s sense of humor; I always thought it was something built into the Kleenex. (Puffs here too, but it’s all Kleenex.) Lovely trestle photo, and what a gorgeous blue sky above the lilac!

    1. I considered that the tissues have a mind of their own, but I think they’re in cahoots with gravity. I love being able to see the trestle. I’ll try not to overdo it, but it’s been so many months with it being hidden.

      1. Can the trestle really be overdone? You are right that it is much hidden; you have to take advantage when the trees let you see. I think you’re right about the kleenex and gravity — pretty cagey of them.

  5. Hi Dan – yes … always into the darkest grottiest corner – mind you .. it means a dust out, or at times a clean out – I’ll remember sense of humour when things don’t drop where they’re mean to – thank you for that thought … Happy Thanksgiving – cheers Hilary.

  6. The leaf shadow is superb Dan.
My waste bin is in the corner of my bedroom. I still have my basketball skills from most places in the bedroom. I like to bounce tissues and stuff off two walls and into the bin to feel clever 😂
    Drop shots are too easy

    1. Thanks for the funny image, Brian. I guess I need to rearrange things here. There’s not good bank shot available for the trashcans.

  7. Exceptional photos, Dan! As for tissues and gravity, I imagine attaching a 10-pound weight to each tissue would help.

    1. They’re hard to find right now. They are out and back in while it’s dark. My wife saw one earlier today, but didn’t have her camera. I have plenty held in reserve.

  9. Hahaha! The odds of a Kleenex dropping straight into the wastepaper basket is little to none, even when they’re rolled up in a tight ball. Nice try though.

I like the shot of the birds clinging to the wind blown tree, and the sunrise shot.

Old Glory is always on call, and sadly serves once again for your former Governor.

I saw that bunny as soon as I looked at the picture! Funny, sometimes I don’t see my own hand in front of my face!

”Stuck at sunrise” is an awesome photo Dan. The leaf, backlit by the sun is just a beautiful image.

    1. Thanks Ginger. Jodi Rell died last week, I thought the flag would be back flying high, but I guess it stays at half staff until they bury her. She was unremarkable, but these days, that’s a good thing.

I love seeing the birds in the trees. They all swooped up there after feeding in our yard. I startled them. You’d think they’d know I’m no danger, but I guess they flee on instinct.

Picking up the Kleenex is exercise. It’s a pity they have to fall all the way to the floor.

I hope you have a nice holiday!

  10. Wow … the sunset pic with the plane on approach is a great example of being in the right place at the right time. Burning bushes are hanging on to their beauty! … but probably not much longer. Good examples of single, fallen leaves posing in the right spot can provide good photos. Have a good Thanksgiving!

    1. Thanks Frank. The burning bushes are the last to give up their leaves. We just let the lay where they fall. They can stay in case someone needs to repair a nest. I love the leaves that are backlit by the sun. It’s one of my favorite wintertime subjects. I hope you have a nice day tomorrow.

    1. This is the only season in which I can capture the whole bridge from the east side. The rest of the year, I have to walk the canal (but it’s been closed for some repairs since September).

  12. Great images Dan. This post made me smile, I’m convinced the gravity in my kitchen is different to the rest of the house, things fall and never go where I want them to.

    1. Thanks. I think you’re right about kitchen-gravity. We have things fall from the counter for no apparent reason and then end up halfway across the room.

    1. Thanks Deborah. I tend to go overboard with the bridge and trestle photos for a while. After having it hidden for so long, I get excited to see it. Our local PBS station has been using an aerial image of it in one of there promotional shots. It’s always good to see that. The bunnies are mostly out when it’s dark now. At least one or two seem to be living here.
