This is the second week that Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is being hosted at my blog. I am still working off the backlog of prompts Cee had in the queue when I took over. If you’ve been following that list, you might want to check again. I decided to extend the time we will work with buildings. You can find the list at my CFFC Page. You can always get to that page from the menu on the left of the header, below the title and taglline.

Moving right along, this week’s prompt is: All about buildings: Colorful buildings. Feel free to search your archive or head out and snag a photo of a colorful building. Any building will do, as will anything that makes it colorful.

As always, publish you post anytime between now and next Monday (when we’ll move onto a new topic. I hope you enjoy my collection for this week.

  2. I like all of these, I love colourful buildings. I especially like the theatre doors and the Colt Dome though I have to admit I don’t know where that is. Here’s mine in case pingbacks aren’t working. I don’t always trust them.

    1. I’m sorry, I should add a little more context. The Colt Dome sits on top of the old Colt Manufacturing complex’s main building in the south end of Hartford, Connecticut. Samuel Colt traveled to Russia when he first began making firearms, and the Russian government was a customer (I believe) before the US Government. He was impressed by the domes in Russia and decided to add one. It’s an uncommon architectural element here, outside of Eastern Orthodox churches, and this one is quite large. The mill complex is being transitioned into light industry and residential, but there was a public/private effort several years ago to repair and refurbish the dome. It sits right along the main north/south highway through Hartford.

      1. Thanks, that’s interesting. It is unusual to see a dome like that outside of a religious building in a western country.

  6. You sure covered the colorful buildings challenge! The Colt dome is a favorite of mine whenever you show it. The green and orange house is definitely an eye-catcher, but couldn’t they have chosen a nicer color combo? 🤗

I don’t know if you will post tomorrow, so let me wish you, the Editor and Faith a very merry, safe, and relaxing Christmas holiday.

The political ads are over, the health insurance ads are over, we just need to get through the after- Christmas sales, the inauguration and then stores will be pulling out Valentines and Easter paraphernalia! See! We still have so much to look forward to! 😳😵‍💫

    1. Thanks so much, Ginger. Your presence in this community is a wonderful thing.

I might post tomorrow, but it will be late and it will be my One-Liner post. A simple holiday message, and I think I’ll close the comments.

So much to look forward to. 2025 won’t be boring, that’s for sure. We woke up to 3° – I hope Santa brings us a few more degrees.

      Merry Christmas!

  7. Excellent colorful gallery, Dan. Hard to choose a favorite from these but I love the Colt Dome and the colorful roof/cover of the lower level concession areas.
Thank you for hosting this challenge. I will share after I dig through my archives on tomorrow.

  8. Color is okay, but some people should be required to get a permit before buying paint.

    1. The fire academy is a very nice building, inside and out. For a State owned structure, I was surprised.

  13. I love all those colours, even the orange and green one.

We used to live in closed community (in Saudi Arabia), originally the houses were all white. Then it was renovated and the houses became either an ochre yellow, a dark red, or a puce green (it was called an Indian colour scheme). People mostly detested the puce green, as did I, and some refused to live in an “ugly green” house. I didn’t. My thoughts were that if we were living in a green house it meant that we looked on mostly red and yellow houses. The others had to look on the green house! 😄

But I don’t have pictures from those times, so here is my more current contribution: https://nofacilities.com/2024/12/23/colorful-buildings-cffc/

  15. Not a fan of the green and orange house (ick), but I love the gray and blue home. That is far more pleasing and less likely to give anyone a headache. Nice colors, Dan! I love to see that when the paint is tastefully used. ;-)
