This is the third week since Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge moved to my blog, but given the holidays, I’m still mentioning that fact. I still have some of Cee’s scheduled prompts coming up, but I added a couple dealing with buildings. You can find the list at my CFFC Page. You can always get to that page from the menu on the left of the header, below the title and taglline.
This week’s prompt — All about buildings: Tall and Short. So, search your archive or capture a new photo of a tall or short building. Don’t get too hung up on what counts as a building, I’m pretty loose with rule enforcement.
As always, publish you post anytime between now and next Monday (when we’ll move onto a new topic. I hope you enjoy my collection for this week. I’ll be here with a message on Wednesday, but if you’re taking some tie off, Happy New Year!
From the 2000, Five Boro Bike Tour. At this point, you had to commit to the Verrazzano, or return to Battery Park via the Brooklyn Bridge. This isn’t a great door, but it might be the coolest little tavern I’ve ever seen. This is a hands-on crafts center where children can participate in some early American crafts.Built for the 1962 Worlds Fair, it’s still an impressive structure. They voted to add the lower level restaurant when I lived in Seattle because the Needle was losing money.Keney Tower from the park entranceWorking on the Freedom Tower in lower Manhattan.Lots of little shops like this on the grounds of the Big-EThe beer booth and the stage. It’s raining, but the carnival doesn’t open until tonight at 6:00pmDoors to the trolley barn. Our car has been removed and is ready for our ride. It’s a shed, but I don’t want the window to rot due to water getting in.The keystone has 1893 carved into it. I wouldn’t be surprised to find that the doors are original to the building. The view over centerfield – The Roberto Clemente bridge and the Gulf Building’s weather-indicating roof reflected in the UPMC building.
You chose a great variety of buildings for the prompt. The Stone Wall Tavern is a favorite of mine! The Needle and the bright red beer booth are winners. Protecting the window on the shed is genius. Only you would think of that!
It’s 50* here, and here I thought the temperatures during summer were screwed up. Methinks winter temperatures may win the ‘weird race’!
Wonderful photos Dan. I am a huge fan of tall buildings. Love the Freedom Tower photo and you got a crane in as well. Awesome.
Thanks for your leniency on what classifies as a building…
This is a wonderful collection of photos, Dan. I love seeing all the towers. Although my favorite is that tavern. I remember you sharing it before, and it’s very worth seeing again. It creates so many stories in my mind. Hugs.
The New York photos are interesting. I’ve never been there but my sister did a year or so ago and walked over the Brooklyn Bridge and back over the next bridge over. Manhattan Bridge I think she said it was.
My favourite photo though is the red brick building with the amazing arched timber door.
Walking over those two bridges would make for a nice tour. The view from the Brooklyn Bridge has changed so many times over the years, but it’s always wonderful. Thanks for joining us.
Quite a selection you’ve got there Dan – I love your tiny tavern but also the Freedom Tower under construction 😎👍 Here’s my entry for this week – Tall and Short — CFFC – Images from Finchley
I like the Freedom tower picture…the blue all around and the reflections on the glass. The one of the stores is also nice…again I like it because of the shadows.
