Today’s JusJoJan prompt is Meander and it was suggested by Kaye Spencer. Be sure to check out Kaye’s blog.
I try to walk every morning, but I don’t meander. I have a specific route and a destination. Neither of those fit the definition of meander.

The featured photo is from Old Sturbridge Village where Faith and I do tend to meander some times. That picture is from a path around the mill pond. I’m not including a photo gallery today, but I will leave you with some music.

    1. We do love visiting OSV. It’s funny, I was very much in to hard rock music, but I always like that song.

  6. I could meander here forever, especially if Dionne Warwick were singing! What a voice! We all would do well to stop rushing around like the world was on fire and begin meandering every now and then. We might actually smell the roses!

    Happy January Dan.

    1. Thanks Ginger. We should meander more. That song would be part of a good soundtrack.

  8. I’m a huge Dion Warwick fan. So much so my daughter’s middle name is Dion. Thanks for the video. I take my dogs for 2 or 3 walks a day. We don’t meander!

    1. Now that’s being a fan! She does have a beautiful voice. When I took our last dog for a walk, she caused us to meander. She stopped to sniff everything and she often wanted to change our route. Still, I wish she was here to walk today.

  9. That looks like a lovely path to walk. I’d meander looking for birds. ☺️

    1. I need to pay more attention to the birds in the area when we visit.

  10. The people walking past my house each morning are definitely not meandering–they are walking with purpose! Beautiful photo of OSV, Dan.

    1. Some days, I try to keep a brisk pace, Lois. Other days, I see a shadow or a leaf and I stop to get a picture.

        1. I learned from Maddie. I started taking pictures of the things she stopped to sniff, look at and play with.

  11. Meandering is fun, but I seldom get to do that. When I walk, as you stated, it’s with purpose. Fun photo and great music!

    1. At our age, when you meander, there’s always the risk someone is going to call someone to check on you ;-)

  12. Every day I walk around the block, starting by going west and my wife always asks “Why don’t you walk around the block the other way.” She just doesn’t understand, but then neither do I.

  13. The mill pond looks very calm. Is a mill pond something that forms when you build a mill? Or what?

    1. They would damn a river to form the pond so they would have enough water to drive the mills’ machinery. There are mil ponds and canals all over New England (and, I suspect England as well). The water from these ponds drove the Industrial Revolution.

      1. Very interesting, thanks, Dan. In the absence of water, we have plenty of windmills here.

  14. Meander is a wonderful word. I am definitely of that persuasion which drives my older daughter crazy. She is a point A to point B walker. And excellent song choice. (K)

    1. Seems you can still meander on the way from point A to B where you are. So many ways to get there.

  15. Your post reminds me that I really should do more meandering. The song is one of Dionne Warwick’s best, I think.

  17. I only meander when Elsa is being walked-she’s getting up there and moves a bit slower. Once I drop her off after her 1-1/2 mile walk, Wilson is raring to go and we book it for another 4 miles. It’s great seeing the neighborhood from both of their perspectives.

    1. That’s some serious walking. Maddie loved to walk, but she stopped to sniff everything, and she had to investigate anything that looked interesting.

      1. The joys of walking a hunting dog. Elsa is going blind and has never been much of a sniffer anyway and Wilson is far too focused on missing out a squirrel sighting. :)
