Welcome to Thursday Doors! This is a weekly challenge for people who love doors and architecture to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos, drawings, or other images or stories from around the world. If you’d like to join us, simply create your own Thursday Doors post each (or any) week and then share a link to your post in the comments below, anytime between 12:01 am Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time). If you like, you can add our badge to your post.

The badge contest ended in a tie, so I will be alternating the badge I use here, but you are welcome to use either of the winning badges.

If you’re not aware, I took over Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge in December. You can read more about that here. This week’s CFFC challenge is based on the nursery rhyme we learned as children — you know; one, two, buckle my shoe… You can read more about that here. Cee peiodically connected CFFC with other challenges. I am going to try to do that as well, but on a monthly-ish basis. I’m starting with this challenge. On Monday, I did the One-Two through Nine-Ten verses, save for the Three-Four verse. That’s in today’s title.

Today’s featured image is a rare photo that I found on LinkedIN. It was posted by a friend and former coworker, and I thought it was perfect because it has four doors. I could explain more about what it is, but I’ll let the expert do that:

Our Mobile Generator Solutions are meticulously designed and crafted by former field technicians, supported by over 100 years of combined industry expertise from our engineers and electricians. Engineered to meet real-world demands, each generator undergoes a rigorous multi-point inspection before shipment, ensuring they surpass the highest industry standards.

Charles S. Logan President – Decom & Cx @LEL Critical.

I learned the nursery rhyme with the verse “Three, Four, Shut the door.” Which my mother emphasized more than “the “Buckle my shoe” or “Pick up sticks” But the version I found online says “Three Four knock on the door.” If I had time, I would have searched for doors with interesting knockers. Alas, I am still sharing doors found during the reverse run of my errand loop.

I’ve tried to include some doors that fit the theme(s) in the nursery rhyme the last two doors are from my archives, but I wanted something for nine, ten.

One, two Buckle my shoe;
Three, four Knock at the (Thursday) door;
Five, six Pick up sticks;
Seven, eight Lay them straight;
Nine, ten A big fat hen

I hope you like my gallery, and if you see some CFFC participants in the comments, please welcome them to Thursday Doors. They will be included in the Recap on Sunday.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  3. Nice try but I’m not counting. Great selection of doors Dan. I like that porch as well.

    Living above a Chicken shop would not be pleasant. I used to work a few doors down from one and the smell, especially when they fired up the charcoal grill, was sickening.

    There’s lots of Irish pubs around the world

    1. I agree with you about living above the Rockin’ Chicken. It’s been there for several years. I pass it before it’s open, but I’ve heard good things about the people and the food. Lot’s of Irish pubs around the world, and seemingly no shortage of Irish bartenders. During Covid, bars could only stay open if they were in a restaurant. This place wasn’t serving food. The owner started buying trays of hotdogs every day. As you walked in, they sold you two for $1 each and listed it on your check as a meal.

      1. The food at Charcoal Chicken was good just the start up smell was revolting. That was a clever thinking pub owner.

  16. Hi, Dan. Thanks for the mention. That does remind me of the Rowdy Rooster. Funny, I was thinking about Atonement, TN a few times lately. Ha! I was scratching my head about what that high tech trailer would be hauling… So it’s a generator, not a trailer at all. Wishing you a thriving Thursday. Hugs.

    1. It’s funny, Teagan. I thought the “Rockin’ Chicken” was the “Rockin’ Rooster” and when I searched on “Rooster” I found that photo. I had to include it. When I saw the trailer posted on LinkedIn., I reached out to my friend. Four doors, what could be more perfect. Plus you know how I love mechanical things. I hope you have a great day and ease into a wonderful weekend.

  17. What great doors! Barns seem to look good in all seasons. And a rockin’ chicken, no less — that’s almost a big fat hen! Needless to say, I gasped when I saw that porch; I bet there have been some wonderful Sunday chicken dinners in that place. I love the rhyme, and I admit I laughed out loud when I read your comment about your mother’s emphasis on “shut the door.” That was the version I grew up with too. I think maybe moms take a course in how to say that before they’re allowed to be moms.

    Liked by 2 people

    1. “Shut the door,” often followed by, “We’re not heating the outside.” Yes, I think that’s all covered in the mom manual. Barns always work for a variety of posts. It doesn’t matter what condition they’re in, either. The porch and some takeout from the “Rockin’ Chicken” could be a very nice afternoon. I hope you have a great weekend!

  18. Fabulous porch. Too bad we can’t all meet there…what a fun time we would have! You know I love that barn. All in all this is a great collection and how cleverly you tied it in with the nursery rhyme.

    But the Rockin’ Chicken, standing in for The Big Fat Hen is a hoot and a half.

    Love the barn… always a favorite of mine after trains. The double door barn is unique.

    The Rockin’ Chicken has a nice ring to it and lots of great charm in well done brickwork.

    That porch is magical…right out of a storybook. Great work and share Dan. Thank you.
