I want to thank everyone for the fun posts offered for last week’s nursery rhyme challenge. The series we had with numbers was fun all around. This week, we move on from numbers to a series with colors. For the next four weeks, we’re going to focus on one primary color and a significant but less dominant color. We’re starting with black (I know, technically not a color but…). Because you might have photos you’d rather save for a different day, I will mention that after black, we will move on through, red, blue, and green. You can always look ahead by checking the CFFC home page.

So, this week, photos where black is a dominant color relative to a different color. Black doesn’t have to be the dominant color in the photo. If you look at my featured photo, you’ll see black (the dark underside of the bridge) and a yellow mechanical contraption. Of course, they are both in a sea of other colors.

Also, you don’t have to stick with one combination. As long as, the photo includes black in a position of dominance over another color. Now let’s see if I can find some good examples.

I have black and yellow, whatever color fire is, red, green, white, brass, brown and silver.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  2. Black eyed Sal’s looks fun, and I always sigh over those old phones. Don’t know why because they were forever breaking my fingernails. Have a fun week, Dan!

    1. Black Eyed Sally’s was a fun place. We still have a working rotary dial Princess phone (not our only phone).

  6. Great gallery featuring the ‘color’ black. Love the phone. I quickly learned to dial with the eraser end of a pencil to prevent breaking my nails! What we girls have to go through!

Black-eyed Sally’s and Pig’s Eye Pub look like fun places to visit. The black cat doesn’t look like he would scare too easily, but Maddie could be very persuasive at times!

My favorites, of course, are seeing MiMi and MuMu again. The Three M’s were an entertaining lot, and all are sadly missed.

Smokey and Joe Crow are handsome critters.

Get ready for the next round of storms. We actually got less snow than predicted this time. Yaaayyyyy!

    1. Thanks Ginger. I had to include MiMi and MuMu. I miss them. I look up, and I have stuff sitting on MuMu’s shelf- she would have tossed it all onto the floor by now.

Black-eyed Sally’s and Pig’s Eye Pub were fun places, and the food was pretty good.

We still have a working rotary-dial Princess phone that I bought one year for Mother’s Day. I was surprised to find that it worked when we plugged it in. I remember seeing girls dial with a pencil. I had no idea why they were doing it.

We got less snow than expected, and the next storms might be turning into rain events. I’ll take rain or snow, just not freezing rain, please.

I hope you have a good week.

  7. What a great assortment! The phone took me by surprise, needless to say, and I spent quite a while just looking at it; I can’t help how it makes me wish for a different time. Black-Eyed Sally’s and Pig’s Eye Pub just has to be the title of a ballad at the very least. Awesome names!

    1. Thanks! My wife wishes for that same time. That is a phone we still have. It’s not working, but a rotary-dial Princess phone is still available here. Do you remember how to cradle that between your head and shoulder? Black-Eyed Sally’s and Pig’s Eye Pub are pretty fun places to eat.

      Liked by 2 people

      1. I was never good at that shoulder-ear cradle; the phone was forever flying out. But first an uppercut to the chin.

Will we be eating at Black-Eyed Sally’s or Pig’s Eye Pub in any of your upcoming books? If yes, I’m going to read them with a drippy BBQ sandwich in hand.

        1. Those places are in Hartford, but maybe I can persuade them to move. My next book does have a sloppy BBQ sandwich in it though. Not the kind you might be familiar with, but maybe.

  15. Great examples of black. Love the phone in particular. I’m old enough to remember those, especially the ones with the rotary dial! We really thought we were living the affluent life when we got a phone with push buttons. ;)

I totally understand why you no longer wear the AB jersey. What a troubled dude.

    1. The phone is one of ours. It no longer works, but we have a rotary-dial Princes phone that does. It still feels good to hold. I liked AB from the start. I told the others around here that he was something special. Then he went off the deep end.
