Badge entry Ritva
Ritva at Ritva Sillanmäki Photography

Welcome to Thursday Doors! This is a weekly challenge for people who love doors and architecture to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos, drawings, or other images or stories from around the world. If you’d like to join us, simply create your own Thursday Doors post each (or any) week and then share a link to your post in the comments below, anytime between 12:01 am Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time). If you like, you can add our badge to your post.

The badge contest ended in a tie, so I will be altering the badge I use here, but you are welcome to use either of the winning badges.

We are getting warmer around here and the snow and ice are starting to melt, but I still haven’t gotten out for the purpose of taking door photos. However, I was able to walk, and I visited a couple places while running some errands.

Most of what I know about these doors is in the captions.

I hope you like the gallery, and I hope you visit some of the other participants to see their doors. I will be running some errands today, so my visits to your blogs will be sporadic, but I’ll get there. It’s the participants that make this challenge successful and fun.

If you are in a hurry and don’t wish to scroll through the comments, click to Jump to the comment form.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

I enjoyed your post – sorry for the duplicated comment. WordPress is picking on me with those. And thanks for Ghost and Zombie doors!

  6. Ah, those beautiful late winter skies, and the light on that impressive shed is perfect. There is something exciting about aeroplanes which I don’t think I will ever grow out of, perhaps by association they trigger travel adventures in my mind.

Something a little different from me this week, car doors from Buxton in Derbyshire, I hope you enjoy them. http://scooj.org/2025/02/27/thursday-doors-27-february-2025-doors-from-buxton-derbyshire/#Cars#Buxton#Derbushire#UK

    1. Walking and driving around in a normal winter (one with snow) brings out a special beauty in the things around us. That plane had an odd whine to is. I don’t always look up, as we’re 2 miles (3 km) from the airport and there are a lot of planes. But when I hear something interesting, I can’t resist.

  12. Lovely photos, Dan. I enjoyed seeing the trees framed in some of the images. It’s a great winter scene.

I’m glad the snow is melting, but now the icy sidewalks are the challenge.

The wood shed is masterfully crafted, even the details example the wiring and lighting are skillfully done.

I love the Congregational Church and its elegant spire. The Broadbrook brewery facade has a nice inviting barn-like vibe to it. Great photos. The photos are full of bright sunshine, always a welcome sight as winter wanes (hopefully).

    1. I’m glad you liked these photos, Suzette. The snow and the winter landscape brings out something special from te ordinary buildings I drive past all the time.

It’s raining today, and I think it will wash away much of the remaining snow. I hope it leaves the walks clear. The shed and the church are two photos I’ve been meaning to share, but I had to cheat. I removed a large obstructive band of at least a dozen wires from in front of the church, and a bit of fence from in front of the shed. I’ve tried taking a photo of the shed while holding my camera over the fence, but they have two tiny but aggressive “guard dogs” that always draw attention to me.

Thanks for your post, and I hope you have a great weekend.

      1. Well said Dan. Winter changes are transformative on a personal level perhaps; and also in the natural landscapes.

Glad you chose to adjust the photo rather than risk danger…. very wise!

  15. Love that shed! Good size and looks ‘solid’. This will serve its purpose for a long time to come.

I guess Costco knew you were coming Dan, they left the doors open for you! The Congregational church is a handsome building, and the blue sky is a perfect backdrop.

BBB Brewers is in a great barn-like building with very welcoming doors.

Hahahaha!!! The last one caught my heart Dan. Murphy’s Pub. Even though I don’t drink alcohol, I would be in there ‘just cause’! Murphy’s Law would definitely rule! Thanks for this. Murphy and Maddie would be celebrities here!

    1. Thanks Ginger. I had the pleasure of watching the guy build that shed last summer. I walk early, but I saw the lumber arrive, and then, bit-by-bit the building went up. It was fun, and he did a great job.

Oddly enough, Broadbrook Brewing isn’t in Broadbrook. Their beer is popular and they wanted to expand in nearby Broadbrook but the town denied them a permit, so they moved across the river and built this place.

Even without a clear door, I knew you’d love Murphy’s Pub. I think of you and Murphy and Maddie every time I drive by. I need to go inside one of these times, but I’m usually passing by before they open.

I hope you have a great weekend.

As for “Broad Brook Brewing,” I can barely say that without a beer, let alone after one! That must be the challenge to see if patrons have had too many. Huzzah for the pub for Ginger!

  34. We are supposed to get a Costco but now here there are some problems. We have a Sam’s Club and a BJ’s so no idea what the holdup is.

The shed is beautiful. Driving home today my husband remarked about a new shed in a house on the corner. Said he saw them take down part of the fence to ship in (as in pre-fab) their shed. You can well imagine that it looks nothing like the one in your photo.
