Announcement: Next week will be a normal week for Thursday Doors, but beginning April 3rd, I will be on a short blog break. So, there will be no Thursday Doors on April 3rd, but there will be some news about the upcoming Thursday Doors Writing Challenge (in May).

In the meantime, I’ve got some leftover photos from East Hartford this week, and two doors sent to me by my brother. In many cases, I was unable to capture he entire buildings. Most of what I know is in the captions.

I hope you will take a few minutes to visit the doors of the other participants. I assure you, the doors will make your visit worth your time.

If you are in a hurry and don’t wish to scroll through the comments, click to Jump to the comment form.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  1. I like the yellow house. Not fussed in modern church buildings, they lack character and to me, purpose. The matching awnings and portico is interesting. Using door as dividers is also different.
I have only one this week as I am doing a clean out of older photos as I have a lot of new doors after my visit to Brisbane on the weekend

    1. Yours is a great door, Brian. I’m with you on the modern churches. I prefer a traditional look. I look back at the 1970s and wonder what we were thinking. I couldn’t find any other examples of that style awning. They’re the only ones I’ve ever seen.

Wow! This is a bonanza of ‘leftovers’ Dan. First, the repurposed school is fantastic. The YELLOW house is definitely an eye-opener, but the blue house with the interesting portico and awnings is a winner.

The apartment buildings are great with those wonderful porches. Love the repurposed doors used so cleverly in the restaurant.

I’m not a fan of the Catholic and Baptist church buildings, but I applaud the Baptists for repurposing that building. Sometimes we just have to be practical. I know I’m a dinosaur, but I don’t want to have to read a sign to know this building is a church. I should know it’s a church by the building itself.

Great gallery. Enjoy your short break. Happy first day of Spring. Hope it’s bringing lots of beautiful weather with it.

    1. You made me laugh with your comment about the churches, Ginger, but I tend to agree. The only good part is I once worked for the guy that owned the computer training school. He’d be appalled to see it has been converted into a church.

I do like the repurposed doors and school. I’m glad they’re all still around. I am not a fan of St. Mary’s and I doubt Mary would be either.

I like the architecture of St. Mary’s Church; it’s quite modern and distinctive.

          1. I agree. I liked the building. I don’t mind modern churches, though. That’s about all we have in Visalia. There are a few older ones, but not tons. The town came into existence in 1850, so they can’t get older than that, and most of those buildings have burnt down. Even though Prescott is newer, the downtown seems older and better preserved, and has some great churches.

I’m going to have to go on a walking tour for myself once we get settled. I have pictures from one years ago, but I don’t remember taking any pictures of churches. There aren’t any in Lightroom. YIKES! I am down a rabbit hole – HELP! No church pictures! We even made a cute walking tour book from the day of our tour.
