Well, we had fun with food for a few weeks but it’s time to move on. Today, we’re starting a series dealing with Transportation. We’ll be here for a while. If you want to see where we’re heading, you can check out the home page for this challenge.

Before I get started with my post, I have an announcement. I am going to take a break from blogging for a week or so. This will be my last post until April 10th, with the exception of next week’s CFFC post (I’ve already scheduled that). However, I won’t be around that often, so I maybe late reading your posts.

Signs and Navigation Aids. There’s lots of things that fall into this box, although many of them might be considered signs, but that’s OK. Whatever helps you get from here to there works, and you don’t have to be driving.

My featured photo is from back when GPS units weren’t on phones. Mine was a Garmin, I called her Greta and I had installed the voice of Yoda. The caption on that photo would read:

“Your destination you have reached, on the right. Nothing more will I teach you today”

Voice of Yoda

Good luck finding your photos, as you travel or in your archives. That’s how this works. Have a nice week.

All five of my current books are now available in audio book form thanks to Amazon KDP’s Virtual Voice process. The voice is AI generated, but I can honestly say, it’s pretty darn good. The audio books are reasonably priced (all below $7 US) and, if you already own the Kindle version and want to add an audio version, you can do that for $1.99. There is a five-minute sample on the book page for each book. If you’re interested, click on any of the Dreamer’s Alliance book links below the image or on the link below for my latest book.

  9. My travel experience is to see the same sign over and over. Go in circles? Oh, yes. My sons will testify that they grew up learning that being lost is just a way of getting there. I hope your break is restoring.

Love this collection of signs! ‘No Sanitary Facilities’….good grief, what kind do they have? A ‘Pedestrian Detour’!

‘Mowers Ahead’! Someone has a good sense of humor perhaps.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a ‘Duck Crossing’ sign. Love it!

Have a wonderful break from blogging.

  31. Amazing variety! Of course, I like the duck crossing. But I’m also partial to the different cities – with Heidelberg on top (the original one in Germany OBVIOUSLY 😉, not one of the 12 in the US, nor the two in either South Africa or Australia – my, so many Heidelbergs).

    1. We drove through our Heidelberg often on the way to my grandmother’s house and to church.

  32. I loved the Duck crossing sign. I still have a Garmin I use all the time.

Funny story- sorta. I was driving from home to Utah to meetup with a girlfriend for a long weekend in Arches N.P. The meeting place was in a hotel in downtown Salt Lake City. I arrived late in the evening to a dark, wet, and rainy SLC. My TomTom gps unit who I called Randy was doing his usual good job of guiding me to my destination until… he had me turn right ONTO A ONE WAY STREET GOING THE WRONG WAY!!! The person in the car ahead of me did exactly the same thing! We both turned into the first parking lot to our immediate right and did a loop to get back out. As we crossed paths we both looked at each other in amazement, and confusion. When I got back on the street headed the right direction Randy reconfigured and had me on my way and I arrived at my hotel without further mishap. Once there I took ahold of my Unit and said, ” Randy if you ever do that again you’re gone. I’ve got Simon in the wings.” Simon was the other voice I had considered several years before when I bought the unit.
He didn’t do anything like again and he/the unit lived for several more years. After it did conk out I bought a Garmin unit. So far so good.

    1. That is funny, Deborah. I had a few issues with an early Garmin, including one where we were heading to a pizza restaurant and it took us across a bridge. Midway across it said “Arrived”.

The Garmin died, and my car has CarPlay, so my phone is my GPS now. It’s a little sad .i miss being able to say “Yo Greta” to get its attention.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Can you program your phone to answer to “Yo Greta”?
I finally have unlimited date on my phone so I’m using CarPlay more, but still rely on my GPS unit a lot. I can plug in the coordinates with ease on it, but not on the maps in my cell phone. 😒 I use the gps coordinates a lot more than an address.

        Liked by 1 person

        1. I never thought about using GPS coordinates. You’re right, it was easy on the Garmin (I only did it a few times).

          Liked by 1 person

          1. I’ll be using GPS coordinates tomorrow morning to get me to a new to me spot for birding. There’s lots of open land here with no address other than GPS coordinates.
