Yesterday, Sally Cronin turned the spotlight on the Guide to Pittsburgh I published last month. I didn’t want to point it out because I didn’t want to detract from the Thursday Doors posts. So, I opted for a rare Friday post.

Pittsburgh guide book

I want to thank Sally for helping me promote this book. I could describe it, but she does a much better job over at her place.

However, there is one thing you should know. When this book was first published, the Kindle version was free. It will be free again for three days, starting on June 11th—the day the novel Willow Willers and I have written will be released. That book is also set in Pittsburgh. This guide book isn’t required reading, but you might find it interesting.

Oh, and about the rest of the title. My wife took several pictures of our bunnies so I’d have some to share with River. I haven’t used enough of them (in my wife’s opinion), so here are a few more.

I frequently have used the term “ambassador of blogging” for Sally. She couldn’t be any more supportive to her fellow writers and bloggers. I just picked up your book, Dan. Hey, every little bit helps. I’m looking forward to learning more about Pittsburgh, a city I’ve only been to once.

  3. Sally is wonderful. I’ll read the post in the morning, Dan. I wish to have some bunnies in my yard, but in the mean time, I’m happy to have a family of three squirrels.

    1. Thanks Miriam. There is something heartwarming knowing that our little piece of this planet is supporting life. Somehow, word gets around. I wouldn’t be surprised to find those squirrels sharing the knowledge of your place.

    1. More like we are theirs. One lives under our screen porch in the back. The baby lives under our front porch. Another one comes and goes. There are a lot of them in this neighborhood.

      1. That would explain why they feature do frequently in your photos.

  8. I’m more partial to hares but bunnies are nice, too. 🐰 One just can’t help to hear commentary in Thumper’s voice. “Eating greens is a special treat, it makes long ears and great big feet.”

    1. Ha! I love that. This is all we have around here, Northeastern Cottontail.

    1. Willow and I are getting excited, Deborah. The baby bunnies are making themselves right at home. I told them they’re welcome to eat anything on the ground, but I asked them to saty out of the garden.

  16. I think this was such a great idea, Dan–to have a guide to the city for your books. When I’m reading and the author describes different locations, I do think it would be nice to have a roadmap of sorts to see exactly where the locations are. And you provided that! Kudos to Sally for spotlighting it, too.

The bunnies are adorable. I have to amuse myself with birds and squirrels…but I would love if a bunny came to visit.

    1. You have too many animals down there that eat bunnies.

I thought about the guide book when I started this latest book. I wanted it to be a stand-alone story, but the main character is not from Pittsburgh. The guide isn’t required reading, but readers might find it interesting. It will be free the day the new book goes on sale.

I love seeing the bunnies. They look so chill and relaxed. Is that a Mourning Dove in the second photo with a bunny?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks Suzette. The bunnies are chill. They sit and eat alongside the birds and squirrels. That is a mourning dove. We must have a hundred of them around here. They’re also quite chill.

  27. Great idea: a guidebook! My maternal grandma lived in Pittsburg when she first emigrated from Ireland — but that was way back– maybe the 1920s. Covered in coal dust and smoke in those days , I guess.
