This week, we’re beginning a new series in which we’re looking for photos taken from a specific perspective. We’re starting with photos taken from above. My feature photo today was taken in the park where I walk most days. Like this year, we had a lot of rain that year, and mushrooms were popping up all over. I’ve been counseled to “get down to the level of your subject,” but sometimes, I just point the camera toward the ground.

So, anything photographed from above will work for today. If you want to see where this series is heading, take a look at the home page. If you want to help, leave a note in the comments about some other perspectives I should include.

Before I bring out the gallery, I’d like to mention—you know in case you haven’t heard—Willow Willers and I released the book we’ve been working on since last May—Poetic Justice. The story is in the Rascal Todd Mystery series, but the detective in this book is an author by the name of Brody Thompson. Brody is reluctantly pulled into an effort to solve a five-year-old murder. The murder itself seems easy to solve, but the situation gets complicated quickly. The story is driven by a series of poetic clues supplied by a homeless Vietnam veteran, and a supporting cast of interesting character.

You can read more about the book (and buy it if you like) on Amazon.

OK, enough marketing, let’s take a look at the photos I’ve gathered to kick off this series. And remember, if you have some ideas, leave it in a comment.

Sally Cronin was kind enough to feature Poetic Justice, Willow and me in her Spotlight today.

    1. Most of my photos of that reflection have an Irish Setter standing in the puddle, Brian. Our dog loved to go to that park after it rained, and she always wanted to stand in that puddle.

  3. I didn’t even recognise the mushrooms, Dan- had to go back for a closer look. I must have granite on my mind from recent excursions. An excellent mix here. I always enjoy your forlorn leaves. Happy Monday! xx

    1. Thanks Jo. I’m not sure what kind of mushroom those are. I’d never seen them before, and I haven’t seen them since. I love finding the leaves in the sun.

    2. Me, neither! I thought the mushrooms were a snake at first and scooted past that photo pretty darn quickly!

  11. That shadow of the leaf on the left looks like an elephant, the one on the right like cat cat. So whimsical and great!

I always like a look of Seattle (having built the Space Needle with my son for a school project when he was at an American school). You also show such a wide variety which offers so much inspiration.

Good to see the curved staircase again and the light keepers house. Like the reflection of the basketball hoop, but a puddle without Maddie is not a puddle anymore. 😢

  19. Wonderful photos and thank you for the great ideas for the topic for this week Dan.

I love the photo of the railroad turntable Roundhouse Park in TO from the CN tower. That brings back memories. I lived in Toronto in my youth…long long ago..lol. Best I not mention how long ago that was. ..LOL.
Love the great views of Seattle, the view from the Lighthouse and the fabulous and iconic photo of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’ and its three rivers.
Wonderful photo of the bunny, I almost would have missed him/her were it not for your note to that photo..they sure know how to blend into the grasses.

  31. May I have a clarification of the theme?

    https://nofacilities.com/cees-fun-foto-challenge-cffc/

shows June 16th started Things Made of Wood, and the next one is Photos Taken From Above.

Are we a week ahead? I was going to post Wood, but clicking on that live link brings me here to the Above things. I like the theme, I just don’t want to post the wrong one.

    1. Thanks. Apparently they aren’t allowed to leave the team logo up when he does kick, but it’s fun to see as he prepares. Maybe you’ll have a chance to use yours as this series progresses. I think this was the hardest one for me.
