This week, we’re continuing the series in which we’re looking for photos taken from a specific perspective. Today’s challenge is one that was suggested by one our readers. If you want to see the upcoming ideas, take a look at the home page for this challenge.

This challenge may introduce a conflict.

I am aware that many of you participate in Macro Monday, which certainly features photos take from up close. I’m not trying to compete with that, and there are two reasons it shouldn’t matter: 1) You’re welcome to cross post your Macro Monday photos for this challenge. 2) Close up photos aren’t limited to macros. I’m not going to try to draw the line between macro and close up—I’m fairly sure it’s a fuzzy line. In addition, I’ve been told, “Less specific equals more fun.” So, if your goal was to get closer to a subject and you like your photo, it’s good enough for CFFC.

My feature photo today is a CT Rail commuter line train being pulled by an Amtrak locomotive. The train is crossing my favorite trestle and traveling through the bridge section that crosses the boat channel.

Poetic Justice, the recently released novel by Willow Willers and me is on sale through tomorrow.

OK, let’s take a look at the photos I’ve gathered this weeks’ prompt.

You have so many great examples Dan. That chick peeking out of the nest box is so cute. I like the chain as well

    1. Thanks Brian. I had a whole sequence of pictures of those chics (there were two) being fed by mom. They were so loud, but so fun to watch.

  4. What a great up-close gallery! The up-close of the trestle and the up-close of the Beauty of Moscow are special stand-outs for me. The array of tools is mind-boggling. Looking up-close is a good thing to do.

    1. Thanks! The trestle is completely blocked by trees right now, so I was happy to be able to sneak a picture in from the archive. The Beauty of Moscow blossoms are a welcome sign each spring. I think that’s when I know winter is over.

        1. Not as much as I’d like to be doing, but I try to manage a couple projects each year. My shop is not attached to the house, and not heated.

Great collection of photos Dan. The close-up look f the train and trestle is especially nice. I like the bee in the pumpkin blossom and the Beauty of Moscow is definitely a beauty!

Your tools are awesome which is why your finished projects are awesome.

Love the last pic of Old Glory.

    Have a great week.

    1. Thanks Ginger. I accidentally tagged both pictures of the flag. That (the odd number of photos) caused the last one to be large. I liked the way it looked, so I left my mistake in the gallery.

The bees will sometimes sleep in the pumpkin blossoms. I can’t imagine a better place for a nap.

The train is my favorite. I love seeing it rumble across that trestle.

I hope you have a great week!

  21. Train! I love that train photo, Dan. Lovely gallery, but that train is the star. So… how did you capture that? Were you standing out on that log with the turtles? Wearing hip-waders? Hanging suspended from a drone maybe? Have a marvelous Monday. Hugs.
