Thursday Doors Combined 2025 Badge

The 2025 badge contest ended in a tie. I was alternating the badge but I kept losing track. You’re free to use the combined badge or either Teagan’s or Ritva’s individual badge.

As promised, I am still dragging you around Old Sturbridge Village in the presence of cows from the Cow Parade and in search of doors. Some people pointed out that there weren’t many doors in last week’s post. In fact, there were nine photos with doors. And there are more than ten photos with doors today. They are not all obvious and the main subject of the photo is not the doors—sometimes it happens that way.

  1. Who cares about doors when you have cows?! These are great, I especially like the sunflowers one under a starry night. Here is my input for this week https://wrookieschu.com/2025/09/11/doors-of-wordpress-v134/

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed this, Wayne. The Cow Parade is such a rare event, and I wanted very much to share the photos. I think the sunflowers cow is one of the best in terms of the artwork.

  7. This second week of cows is most welcome, I love these kinds of creative displays, and that doors are incidental rather than central is just fine with me. These crown are brilliant, and I particularly like the one with the butter wrapper. Last week, I took dozens of pictures of a public creative art display in town in North Yorkshire and will be presenting them in a future for Thursday Doors.

More from Marrakesh this week. I will be taking a break next week: https://scooj.org/2025/09/11/thursday-doors-4-september-2025-even-more-marrakesh-doors/#marrakesh#morocco

Enjoy your break. Thanks for the great doors today.

  14. A declaration remembered
    a moo-ving tribute
    outdoors —a door of sorts
    with four ounces of salted
    butter basting New England skies.
    Where horns are, silent
    sunflowers under a starry night
and a cow girl rocks the garden
    from soil to bloom.
In a land of milk and cookies
where honey bees fill their combs
    and wax eloquent buzzing.
    Chip’s in chocolate hooves
graze at ice cream parlor doors.
Pray tell how now purple cow
how does your mootiful batik patterns
flow or is it pasture your bedtime?

  22. I love these “cow parades,” Dan. They’re so creative! And how fun to wander about a photograph them. I always wanted to paint a cow. :-D We have one in downtown Portland that gets repainted by a different artist every year, commissioned by one of the local businesses. I haven’t been to OSV in decades. It would be fun to go again.

  25. Good captures Dan. Reminds me of the Elephants and Donkeys they used to paint up around DC in patriotic themes. It’s good to be back this week and I hope another absence doesn’t hit for a long time. Here’s my simple contribution for this week. https://threwmikeseyez.com/2025/09/11/back-in-the-grove/

    1. Thanks Mike, and welcome back. Other than the Declaration Cow, there weren’t any patriotic or political themes in the Cow Parade – that added to the nice break from reality walking around OSV always provides.

  26. No complaints from me, Dan. I don’t know why these cows delight me to the huge extent that they do… but they’re so adorable and such whimsical fun that I forget about any doors. I got a kick out of the one painted to look like butter. That’s hysterical. Thanks for this extra cow parade. I really needed it (what a week…). Hugs.

Do you know the Purple Cow poem?

    The Purple Cow

    Gelett Burgess

    1866 –

    1951

I never saw a Purple Cow,
I never hope to see one,
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I’d rather see than be one!
